External Antennae For Mobile_phones

Recommended Posts

hi, i was lookin up ways to fasten our rconnect speeds...and i found a bunch of s/f which r supp to optimize/tweak the modem settings (or somethin similar) thereby givin us faster speeds....thats the theory atleast.

none of them really does anything appreciable :( ...actually throttle was quite good, but it never stays cracked....

anyways, sice the software part didnt help much in improving rconnect speeds, i thot the hardware part mite have something...

there seems to be a lotta varities of these external antennae/boosters ....from those little stick_on_the_cell things to full_blown rooftop_dishes... for improving reception in poor_coverage areas...

question is, would these help in anyways to improve rconnect speeds ? Thing is, even with a 'full' "tower" shown in our phone display, the rx: & tx: speeds are never "full' right ?

...like, i understand the rx: and tx: speeds depends on a lotta things like the number of people in the same 'CELL' usin the base_station/tower(voice calls too) at the same time...and so forth...

has anyone xperiences with these external anrennae/booster things?

bottomline is -is there anyway we can add_more_bars to the rx: thing and improve speeds ?

Why cant we ever keep those graph_lines in the rconnect dialer flat/plateaud...??u know what i mean...? like even a 50kbps(thats >half the promised quota)speed is ok with me -BUT I WANT IT TO STAY FLAT AT 50kbps...why does this NEVER happen  why does it always a up_down_up_down graph ? is there anyway to... say ...straighten this up :P i've so wanted to ask THIS question ever since i started usin rconnect - why doesnt it stay flat ?

ps: what kinda waves r the cellphone signals...? what freq range do they fall in ? like would a satellite dish for tv or a dth dish pick up these signal too ?... is the difference only in whats connected after the antenna/dish ?[tv/radio/cellphone]

it always varies according to network load.nothing to do with signal strength. of course we need a healthy signal to keep the connection going

Even on a dedicated leased line the speed varies according to the network load...

I do not mind it varying by a few KB... But Rconnect graph in Flashget varies from 0 to 12 KB....

8 to 12 might have been much better

yesterday night at chennai i got constant 12KBPS at night 1 am :quest: day time i get around 6 to 8KBPS.signal does not vary and good reception. so i dont think there is a change in rconnect speed according to signal.if the signal is too bad to happen a call drop, it will give bad speed indeed :P

Hello,

Does anyone know if an external antenna can be connected to the LG RD5130 phone?

OK .. I found something. The LGRD 5130 is known as the TD5130 is Australia and elsewhere. On scouring the web, I found the websites given below, I found that they had an external antenna for this phone.

http://www.chinmore.com/T5003ListCmdyData?...Sketch1-2_Hi178

They also had the connector to connect the antenna to the phone. It's web URL is given below.

http://scm.asianproducts.com/clients/showp...5100088946.html

or

http://www.chinmore.com/T5004ShowCmdyData?...Id=216&&y_MuId=

These products are available in Kerala. Does anybody have any experiences with them? One phone store said that they will work. I know that the use of these items may harm the warranty that is offered with my phone. But since I will be connecting this external antenna only once in a while I think that any chances of damage from lightning etc will be remote.

Let me know folks!

B Kool!
