Printer Choosing Help Required

Recommended Posts

I need to buy a Printer for home use. Kindly suggest a printer. Should I opt for a Deskjet or Laser Printer. Print quality must be good.

Is there any laser All in One available?

Budget 5K with a little flexibility but lower cost most preferred.

Go for SAMSUNG MFD.. I am using one (Bk Laser Print, Scan, Copier functions)... Simple to use and cheap too.. Cost around 5 to 6k..

Nowadays some models come with WiFi too for easy connectivity, but they either comes with InkJet printers or very costly if comes with Laser type.. Please avoid Inkjet printers as their running cost is heavy and are prone to repairs, if not used frequently..

Saurav I would like to suggest you HP F4488 All In One Printer Scanner Copier. You can buy from eBay @ 3,810. If u have a discount coupon

U can save more money or else if u open a new eBay account, the eBay

People generally send u a discount code.

http://cgi.ebay.in/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280524664562

HP F4488 will be inkjet printer not a laser printer.

Laser printer has a better quality and the printing cost is very low.

Inkjet will be expensive printing but the printer is cheap.

For 3.8k if u getting a HP all in one I suggest you to go for it.

You can also check it locally is u get a better deal.

U can find a cheaper all in 1 if u go for cannon but I will suggest HP.

As suggest by KanagaDeepan if u buy a samsung 5-6k black laser as well as

Scan and copy that’s also a good option.

@saurav – laser 3-1 will be the best buy but will be expensive.

The Samsung laser printer looks fine which is priced @4999.

Laser printers prints are very economical. You can easily get the

Tonner refilled by any local ink refiller, it should not cost u more than Rs 300.

You can try this Samsung SCX-4300 MFP Laser Printer Copier Scanner

Try to buy it locally or else check the ebay link for prices.

Re-filling cost isnt too much at all, after few thousands print, you will have to change the chip placed on the toner which saves the paper count and doesnt allow you to print any further.

Inkjet uses liquid ink which, if not used for long, gets dried out as a result prints are not possible at all or with a very bad print quality, where as laser printers use powder as ink which sticks on paper with help of heater so there is no scope of dryness/clog.

I hope that could clarify a bit.

@Saurav.. i know that ur looking for good quality priniting..

Nevertheless, let me suggest this to ppl who are ok with normal document priniting..

I had purchased an HP Deskjet F2235 All in one (no fax) from Croma @ 2k !

Yes.. the price today still sits between 2.5 to 3k but maybe that day was lucky for me.

I has also done some R&D prior & found out that it uses Cartridges 21 (B & W) & 22 (Colour).. same as my old printer.

A new 21b (simple black) an alternative to 21 (black) is available officially for 350.

So now comes the refilling part, which many will not prefer...

But you can go with re-fillers like Cartridge world who provide workability guarantee or new cartridge.

They blindly charge half the rate of original cost i.e. Rs. 175 in this case.

You can easily re-fill 2-3 times & then chuck it.

So if u going with an All in one printer, also look at your recurring costs & this fits the budget type guys.

Is there a sigifican quality difference b/w inkjet & Laser printing.

I am more tilted towards Laser printer bcz of choking prolem in deskjet if not used over a period.

Secondly what is the refilling cost for a laser printer.

^^^

My dear Saurav....Chocking problem of ink cartridges is mainly with EPSON PRINTERS. As the PRINTER HEAD in Epson Printer is in-built inside the printer. Means, once the head got clogged you have to replace the PRINTER HEAD, which is as costly as the new printer itself.

In HP PRINTERS, the PRINT HEAD is built on the INK CARTRIDGE itself.....Means, if anyhow you face the choking problem....just throw away the ink cartridge and replace it with a new one. Your printer then become as good as a new one.

About LASER PRINTERS.....refilling cost of Laser Printers will cost you nearly Rs.300 to Rs.500 approximately. But don't go for Samsung Laser Printers if you want to refill the Toner Cartridge....becasue Toner Cartridges of Samsung Laser Printers comes with an ELECTRONIC IN-BUILT CHIP. The toner cartridge will not work if you refill it. The only way to use Samsung Laser Printers with refilled toner is....you have to short one of the I.C. on the CIRCUIT BOARD which is fitted inside the printer.

Go for the HP Entry level printer 1005 @ Rs.5500/- approx.

yesterday I visited Local Comp shops as per them if HP Inkjet is kept unused for 15 days its catridges required to be replaced.

So they suggested me Laser HP 1007 / Canon LBP2900B.

More stress on Canon LBP2900B. Selling it for Rs 5700.

^^^I wouldn't buy what they say. Have an HP all-in-one which is seldom used... sometimes not even once a month. Not faced any such issue.
