topgnat 17 Report post Posted July 16, 2010 Dear all Can we setup mobile hotspot for WiFi teethering on Incredible which is not rooted? Thanks and regards Ananthara As already mentioned my others you have two options Froyo/Root. I can just inform you that I have been using WiFi tether for some time with my rooted Inc and it works just fine. Also now Root is now much easier with latest method released.
dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted July 17, 2010 (edited) The Wireless Tethering Homepage for Android Development is here for Incredible - http://code.google.c...sire_Incredible download here (download the wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre2.apk for Incredible and you should be good to go) - http://code.google.c.../downloads/list Project Home Page here (to select for other device) - http://code.google.c...id-wifi-tether/ Setup Howto for HTC Desire, HTC Incredible The "HTC Desire" and "HTC Droid Incredible" need some extra setup-steps to make "Wireless Tether for Root Users" work. (First you need to root your device. Please use google-search to find a guide/tutorial). 1) Download a HTC Evo 4g system-dump (use google search - I bet you will find one) 2) Extract a file named fw_bcm4329_ap.bin (located in /system/etc/firmware) 3) Mount your sdcard 4) Create a directory named "android.tether" (without quotes) 5) Open this directory and copy/move fw_bcm4329_ap.bin into it. 6) Rename fw_bcm4329_ap.bin to fw_bcm4329.bin 7) Install the latest versions of "wireless tether" Please consult this issue report where this workaround was discussed: Issue 330 Comment by rknoeckel, Jul 06, 2010 Here's fw_bcm4329_ap.bin without the eintire 4g system dump, which is over 130MB. http://hotfile.com/d...329_ap.bin.html Comment by MW0CQU, Jul 14 (2 days ago) can we please clarify "latest versions" in step 7 do you mean 2.0.2 or 2.0.5 ? as I read it. 2.02 for the desire ?? thanks Comment by solosmooth, Today (2 hours ago) THANKS SO MUCH!!! Incredible Working Great!! Edited July 17, 2010 by dkaile
