Using Two Phones To Double Bandwidth

Recommended Posts

Hi,

If you have two Reliance phones... You can connect to Rconnect using both and get double the bandwidth (theoretically!!)

This is how you can do it...

Create a dial-up connection like your normally would.

-Right click on the icon and select Properties

-Click on the Multilink tab

-Click on Use additional devices

-Click on the Add

-Click on the other modem you would like to use

-You should now connect with both modems.

-You can confirm this by opening up your dial up connection in the System Tray after you connect.

I have not tried this myself... I have only one phone :P

I do not even know whether this will work with RConnect...

But can some one try this and see how it went :quest:

you can also combine any cable net connection u have and r-connect by Bridging them together. (i think)

:D You could most surely bridge them together.. but then what is the need to bridge them anyway... bridging them will not get you an enhanced speed.. you have to take the "Negotiate Multi Link Connection" option as described in the earlier post.. !!

using two simultaneous connections will not aid your bandwidth unless you are telling an app to talk on a specific card (NIC/Connection) and the other app talks on the other card.. an alternative card/connection is not utilized by default unless 100% bandwidth is choked on the first one or you have distribution rules in place.

what if someone needs to use two USB cables with the same driver in two phones ?

I have tried multilink. I have set up multilink, one on serial port using FWP and other on USB using RIM.

Whichever phone is connected first remains connected. But the second connection is never connected, as the remote server doesn't allow it .

hi all

this technology is called bandwidth aggregartion , u can combine two connections so that total bandwidht becomes 230kbps if u use 2 lg phones and if u use 2 samsung phones its becomes 460kbps and i have tried it and it works only on windows XP only , need any info abt procedur e ?

hi All this is the process ..

If you have one reliance phone for internet on ur home PC and want to increase

bandwidth, then you need to add another reliance phone or modem on your PC and connect

both the modems to your ISP. This solution works on WinXP.

Now you need to configure both the connections in a way that you

get a single pipe of high-bandwidth from your two (or even more)

dial-up connections. To do so, open your ISP connections from

Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections and select your

ISP connection. This will open a connect window that connects to your

ISP, where you click on the Properties button. Another window will

open, showing your modem configuration.

On this window, go to Networking>Settings. This will pop up a dialog

window, which has three options (Enable LCP extensions, Enable software

compression and Negotiate Multi-link for single link connections). Tick

the ‘Negotiate Multi-link for single link connections’ and then click

on OK.

Follow the above procedure for all the ISP connections that you have on

your PC.

Now dial out to your multiple connections one by one, after

connecting to the multiple ISP. WinXP will automatically aggregate your

multiple links in to a single link with increased bandwidth

if use two lg phones the bandwidht becomes 230kbps and download speed wil be between 21-26 kbps (if u use original cables)

and if u use samsung sch-191 the speed becomes 460 kbps (which is the speed is more than broadband) and the download speeds are 37-42 kbps so u can download gigs of data vids etc (using orginal cable only)

njoyyyyyy

note: im using two lg for mullilink and the downlod speed for me is anytime beween 21-26 not below 20kbps (using orginal cables only) tested and proved

njoy

Theoretically yes. You will need a software that can do load balancing for this to work... so that when one cable modem connection is choked, it will use the second one.... You will also need two NICs on your system.

There is a little app called midpoint that you can use load balancing ...

"If one connection does not provide enough bandwidth for you, then MidPoint's unique ability to team multiple connections together is sure to provide the throughput you require. You can team any type of connection with MidPoint giving you higher performance for your existing users, or additional bandwidth to support more users. The result is faster receipt of web pages and files. "

The company is dead but you can still get the software from this link

http://tucows.mundofree.com/win2k/preview/59773.html

Try it and post how it went...

Infact... if the above works... I think you can combine... even a cable modem connection and R-Connect together!!!!!

You may be having a telephone line in your home right???...

Why not borrow a modem from some one (if u do not have)..

Connect your Cable connection and Dialup together and find whether the software really works....

I think the Reliance R-Connect is something which has made my life hassel free....

Apart from that something good with Reliance is Sierra Cards which u can insert in laptops and can use the net whereever reliance network is available.

has anyone tried using two reliance phone to get double net speeds?? if yes how many of you have actually been successful, please let us know. i have a tata indicom FWP and a reliance FWP (cordless),and whenever i try using both of them as one , it just wouldn't happen. i've followed the instructions as mentioned (multilinking), but it doesn't seem to be working. whichever connection is the last to be started only that is used for surfing and the other connection stays idle....is it b'coz of the two being different (tata and reliance) or for some other reason....please help if somebody has tried and succeeded or has an idea how to make it work.
