Sms Applications In R-world Are Charged!

Now you can update all your friends about your new 93 number at the click of a button. Introducing SMS To Many facility on R World*. This service lets you look through your phonebook from R World, select the numbers you would want to send the SMS to and click on Send. Or, you could choose to send the message to a certain group of contacts in your phone book by selecting their names. What’s more, enjoy the facility of sending Business cards (VCard), individually, to a group or to the entire phonebook (service valid for Reliance as well as other operators). All this at no extra expense, with the charge per SMS being as per your standard SMS tariff plan.

*Service not available on Nokia 2280, Nokia2112 and Nokia3105

hmmm, i guess there is something in the way we look at the issue....

is it an SMS service which involves using rworld ?

or

is it an Rworld service which invovles using sms ?

looks like, RIL looks at it from the first point_of_view...while we want it the other way.

Afterall its a R-World application.

Its a facility provided by Reliance in R-World!

Because its available in R-World, it should be free not PAID!

There were similar such SMS services earlier in R-World like sending greetings in seasonal applications, like the existing Christmas application.

im under dapo scheme. if i send sms using this service will i'll be also charged for the sms i send?

I dont see the link on my 7230 neither was it there on my GTRAN. Is it there on other color handsets?

Tanveeer it's there on my Samsung 563.... under the New Apps section (the 1st Icon). And I don't think they charged for sending MMS messages because you can only send that to other RIM users.

They are charging for SMS --- probably because you can send it to any mobile phone (international even) --- and it's mentioned there that this isnt free.

Of course the sms from the 93 Application was probably being charged too --- I don't know for sure... but nowhere did they mention that it would cost to send the changed number sms. I think that was bad on their part! Then again a whole lot is :-)

It was mentioned in the 93 application too that SMS charges as applicable to your plan. it was not explicit but was mentioned in the Help section.

Actually, there should not be any cribbing as far as SMS based services are concerned. But its the human tendency to not to be happy with what he is getting

First we wanted SMS to Many service, and now that we have got it people want it for free Atleast its free for DAPO.

PS: From January 1, 2005 PNR alert facility for railways willbe charged at Rs 3/- per enquiry, as that too is a SMS based application and R-World is onlya front end for ease (Source: R-World)

not at all. on the contrary i find it really wonderful especially after the horrible experience i had with GTRAN ( especaially the battery). Its a beauty, a real elegant gadget easy to use and quite techy too. will tell u more about it as I use it

I think it isn't tht surprising tht they charge for these sms as R-World is simply a link platform for ease.. & the sms is being sent as any other sms(the only prob is it may not look so obvious to the user initially __ but hey that's how mobile companies make money ) . How bout expecting free call to Webworld etc from the City Guide

Yes, no issue in sms being charged.

The r-world app uses your own handset for sending the multiple sms's. You can confirm this by first enabling "save sent mesages" in ur h/s and then using this app. You would see each of these sms have been saved in the outbox of you handset. It merely automates the process of sending the same message to many peaple one by one.

Not only mms & email but so many other useful services are free. Like city STD code query by airtel is charged rs.2 per sms. hutch tv is chargeable...airtel live is chargeable...it's a long list...l

There are infact so many things that are really useful in Rworld, though many are crap as well. here are somethings that i find useful:

games

pay bill in RIM bill

guides for tv listings

humr for jokes

surf

I hope most of u will agree that some of these things have heelped u as well.

Auto & taxi fares for Mumbai and I have so many times located nearest ATM while on a tour to a new city.

Or stock quotes while on the move. although a bit delayed but cheaper than paying Rs.2 per sms offered on 2622 sms service.
