csmart 472 Report post Posted November 8, 2011 Panasonic Toughpad A1 and Toughpad B1 Android tablets revealed Source This week the folks at Panasonic have revealed one tablet and named a second, the first being the Toughpad A1, a 10.1-inch Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet with a processor from no less than Marvell, the most elusive chipmaker of all. Of course Marvell has appeared in mobile devices before, but the last time we spoke about them in regards to a mobile device was in the Vizio Tablet, then before that was aChinese smartphone and on the Chumby 8. Here we see Marvell sitting inside the tablet with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, this aside 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB more. The reason the two tablets being announced today are called Toughpad, or at least the reason why the A1 is called a Toughpad, is that it’s got a 4-foot MIL-STD-810G drop rating, operating temperatures between 14 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit, and resistance to dust and water ingress. We’ll see about that! In addition, the A1 tablet is a massive 2.13 pounds heavy, has a stylus pen, and has front and rear-facing cameras of unnamed size. There’s a “serviceable” battery inside, and you’ve got the option of getting the tablet with access to LTE or WiMAX connectivity. Take a peek at every other Android tablet getting smashed while the Toughpad takes all the beating a good hardcore tablet aught to: This device (the A1) also has software encryption, custom deployment and device management that they say is not found in any other consumer tablet, dual-factor authentication, and more business-oriented safeguards that’ll keep your boss satisfied with the amount of safe their information is in the guts. Panasonic’s A1 tablet will be working with a cloud-based storefront by the name of Business AppPortal and will have a handful of vertical market apps as well as virtualization and security solutions. There’s also the Panasonic Toughpad B1, the 7-inch version of what’s been listed here in the A1, no additional specifications about which have been listed as of yet. We can expect similar specifications, including another Marvell processor.

rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted December 23, 2011 Lava To Launch Android Tablet For Rs 5,550 in February Source Operator Bundled, 7 inch Capacitive Touchscreen, 1 Ghz Processor, with SIM Slot and Android 2.3. Lava Mobiles, an Indian handset manufacturer which forayed into the Android segment with the S12 smartphone, will launch an Android tablet in February. S N Rai, co-founder and director, Lava Mobiles, said to The Mobile Indian, "Lava will launch an Android 2.3 based tablet in February for Rs 5,500." He further said, "The tablet will be made available bundled with a service provider's connection and will not be available as a standalone device." Though he did not reveal the name of the service provider, he said that the telco is operational across India. On the specification front, he said, "The tablet will be a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen tablet, and will have a 1 GHz processor. It will also support a SIM slot as it will help our operator partner to push their data services." Rai also added that Lava Mobiles is in advance stage of talks with Intel for providing the processor for the tablet. He further added Lava, is working on specific apps ranging from education to health and most probably these will come pre-loaded in the tablet. Initially, Lava Mobiles was supposed to launch the Android tablet in December. Explaining the reason behind the delay, Sunil Raina, chief marketing officer for Lava Mobiles, said, "We wanted to launch a quality product in the market and didn't want to hurry. As a result, our research and development team took a bit longer to give the final shape to the tablet."

csmart 472 Report post Posted January 9, 2012 Toshiba’s New Excite X10 Tablet Is World’s Thinnest 10-Inch (For Now) Source So much excitement. This is my first CES and while MG may be correct to think that some of my fellow tech bloggers find this trip a tad tedious, I’m pink with barely controlled glee just from being here. But I’ve been excited about CES for a few weeks now, ever since I went to meet with Toshiba and get a sneak peek at their latest tablet. The Excite X10 is now the world’s thinnest 10-inch tablet, measuring in at just .3 inches thick and weighing just 1.2 lbs. But don’t forget that the iPad 3 is presumably just around the corner (along with quite a few Android slates this week), so anything can change. A brushed magnesium alloy finish graces its backside, with Corning Gorilla glass up front to prevent any scratching. It’s really a beauty. Under the hood you’ll find a TI OMAP 4420 1.2GHz dual-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. As far as the OS goes, however, Toshiba was a bit iffy. The tablet will either ship in mid Q1 with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, or a bit later with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather wait a bit longer for Ice Cream Sandwich. The 10-inch screen boasts a resolution of 1280×800, and is built with a special direct bonding technology that allows for such a thin profile. A 2-megapixel front-facing shooter is present and accounted for if you’re into video chat, and a 5-megapixel shooter can be found on the backside of the tab. Android tablets have been quite the flop in the past year (with the exception of the Kindle Fire, sort of), but I have a good feeling about 2012 Android slates if this is the type of stuff we’re going to see. Pricing is still unclear for this guy, but with its premium status I’d assume it’ll face off against the iPad more so than the Kindle Fire. (Note on images: Regza is the tablet’s Asian name, and won’t appear on U.S. units)

That, in turn, reduces power and improves battery life, Huang claimed. That fifth core also allows for a new technology called Direct Touch, which gives devices a more responsive screen and a "buttery smooth" experience, Haung said. Honest 836 Report post Posted February 24, 2012 BSNL launches Aakash-killer tablet for Rs. 3,250 – Pantel’s T-Pad IS 71 Low-cost tablet from BSNL and Pantel Technologies looks to take on the Aakash by offering better specifications at pretty much the same price point. And with its HDMI port, it could make a really handy media player! BSNL, the state-owned telecom giant, has launched a new tablet in India that wants to take the failing Aakash tablet head-on. Noida-based company Pantel Technologies was tapped to produce the T-Pad IS 710r and it’s priced at just Rs. 3,250, or $66 approximately – a fraction above the $50 Aakash. The Penta T-Pad IS 710r is similar to the Aakash in most aspects. Of course, we are comparing it here with the upgraded version of the Aakash, Datawind’s UbiSlate 7+, and not the original Aakash. Pantel’s tablet has a faster 1GHz processor and a VGA camera, but doesn’t come with a SIM card slot for GPRS connectivity. Running on Google Android v2.3 Gingerbread, the device is equipped with Wi-Fi support and a 7-inch resistive touchscreen. It does offer an added HDMI port to connect it to your TV though. And it can play back HD videos, including the MKV file format, making it a kickass media player at just Rs. 250 more than the Aakash. The tablet is currently available for pre-booking online: Book the Penta T-Pad IS710r Here’s a full comparison of the new Penta T-Pad IS 710r with the UbiSlate 7+ as well as the original Aakash tablets: Two More Tablets BSNL also launched two more low-cost tablets in association with Pantel – the T-Pad WS 704C and the T-Pad WS 802C. Here are their full specifications as well as the prices: You can pre-order both tablets now at the official site: Book the Penta T-Pad WS 704C Book the Penta T-Pad WS 802C The Aakash project itself will be getting an upgrade soon, with the government already having announced the Aakash 2 – and it’ll be for the same price, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal has said. The project has been mired in a lot of controversies recently. Courtesy : Phonemantra
