rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted June 19, 2012 10.6-inch Microsoft Surface Tablets Announced, Powered By Windows 8 Source Hands-on with Microsoft's new Surface tablet PC. >> http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/18/3095335/microsoft-surface-hands-on Microsoft Surface for Windows RT vs. Microsoft Surface for Windows 8 Pro >> http://www.theverge.com/products/compare/5799/5800 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKFIG4c2U2A After days of speculation and rumors, Microsoft's major announcement has just been unveiled at a press event in Los Angeles: a Surface tablet. We suspected the company might be working on its own tablet, and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer revealed the device on stage at Milk Studios in Los Angeles today. Discussing Microsoft's history with Windows, Xbox, and Kinect, Ballmer introduced a video of the company's hardware products over the years before unveiling Windows 8's companion, the Microsoft Surface. Microsoft's Steven Sinofsky took to the stage to describe the hardware of Microsoft's Surface tablet. There will be two options for Microsoft's Surface PC, one powered by Intel's 22nm Ivy Bridge chips running Windows 8, and another Surface powered by an ARM chipset and Windows RT. The Windows RT version is just 9.3mm thin, weighs 1.5lbs, includes a built-in kickstand, and is the first PC with a vapor-deposited (PVD) magnesium case, according to Microsoft. It will ship in 32GB or 64GB versions, complete with a 10.6-inch ClearType HD display (of unknown resolution). Microsoft's Intel-based Surface tablet will run Windows 8 Pro, with a thickness of 13.5mm, a weight of 1.9lbs, and USB 3.0 support. This particular version will also include magnesium casing and a built-in kickstand, but will ship with either 64GB or 128GB storage. Additionally, the Intel version will include additional digital ink support through a pen that magnetizes to the body of the tablet, and a 10.6-inch ClearType "Full HD" display. Both of Microsoft's Surface tablets feature optional Touch and Type keyboard covers. Microsoft says suggested retail pricing will be announced closer to availability and is expected to be competitive with a comparable ARM tablet or Intel Ultrabook-class PC.

joshm 818 Report post Posted July 8, 2012 http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_google_nexus_7-4850.php well , we all know that in the price tag of 199$ ( in US ) Asus Google Nexus 7 ( 7 inch tablet ) is gonna be one hell of a deal. whatever i have read and seen about it on the Internet I am impressed, yes there are some cons but this is certainly gonna shake up the scene . I wanted to ask what our community thinks about this, or if there are better options available for us, may be in the same price of even lower. I am seriously thinking about giving it a go , and TBH regretting buying the sony vaio for 40 k coz i am not using it all thanks

copperco2 24 Report post Posted July 17, 2012 Google Nexus low cost tablet for Rs 11,000 The upcoming Nexus tablet will be a low cost device priced at Rs 11,000, but with a powerful quad core processor and HD screen, it has the potential to shake up the tablet market. We earlier reported that the Google Nexus tablet will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and that now seems to be confirmed with a Cnet report quoting a source as saying that the new tablet will offer Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display. The tablet will come with powerful specifications including a 1.3 GHz quad core Tegra 3 processor, a GeForce 12 core graphics processor, and 1 GB of RAM, as reported by Gizmodo Australia. However, it will not have a rear camera, probably a cost cutting measure, though it will have a 1.2 megapixel camera on the front. The tablet will also run for nine hours on a single battery charge, the report said. As we have been saying for long, the tablet will be priced at $199 (Rs 11,000) for the 8 GB version and $249 (Rs 14,000) dollars for the 16 GB version. The tablet, which is expected to be launched at Google's I/O conference later this week, is likely to shakeup the tablet market, as the current price of a tablet with similar specifications is close to Rs 30,000. Even the current breed of low cost tablets from Indian and Chinese brands will have to up their game to stay relevant.

Karthik R 246 Report post Posted July 19, 2012 There is no excuse to be launching a new device with Gingerbread. ICS is eight months old, which is plenty of time to adapt hardware to it. With people talking Jelly Bean now, it’s ridiculous for RCOM to be taking this route.
KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted July 19, 2012 The last time, RCom brought Tab (from ZTE) people have few doubts, whether to get that one as it looks like usable in one way... But this time, sooo many thanks to RCom, we have NO single doubt, this is useless one... Android 2.3 + 512MB RAM + Rs14499/- is a deadly combination for a 2012 Android Tab, especially when Chinese Tabs with half its price are much better and Nexus-7 is around the corner with almost same price.... rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted July 25, 2012 Micromax To Launch 10.1-inch Funbook Pro Tablet With Android ICS Source Micromax has just updated its website with a larger 10.1-inch variant of the Funbook tablet which it calls the Funbook Pro. Micromax should launch it sometime next month but the pricing of the tablet has not been decided yet. As far as specs go, the Funbook Pro features a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1024Ă—600 pixels, a 1.2GHz single-core processor tied in with dual Mali 400 GPUs, a VGA front facing camera, 8GB of internal memory along with a microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB of storage, Wi-Fi connectivity and 1GB of RAM. The Funbook Pro will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. While the previous Funbook did indeed provide a palatable tablet experience at a pleasing price point, it failed to deliver sustainable reading experience owing to a very poor display. Hopefully, Micromax has dealt with the criticism and will arm the new Funbook Pro with a much better display. If one compares the specs of the Funbook Pro with the older 7-inch Funbook, Micromax has added a larger, higher resolution display and has doubled the RAM and memory.
