stranger 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2004 OK! This is my first day with VPN over R Connect. The first day is kind of mixed on speed and initial setting of connection. I have P4 HP laptop with 512 MB RAM. I brought my own DKU-5 cable with me and got prepaid 2280. I had to download 2280 3g driver INF file from nokia's India download portal. Once installed connection was easy however in the afternoon I found remote server not available messages when tryign to reconnect. I also tried to download 2280 dialing zip file from relianceinfo site with download speed up to 11.6 Kbps (11.6*8 kilo bits per second). I was impressed with the speed however the speed was for short time . I also noticed spike on speed kind of inconsistant from zero Kbps to 8 Kbps but mostly around 3 Kbps. Overall I think this will work for me good for checking emails and browsing web pages.
Ganesh 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2004 rconnect speeds are in bursts always.one cannot play live online movie and video.its good for downloads only.i tried to run a internet tv app in rconnect but really choppy.the same thingy runs damn smooth for airtel broadband.the bandwidth requirement was only 64KBPS though
stranger 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 You are correct this may not cut for live streaming media. I think it has to do with RIL's data network between cell towers and regional data centers. I have been using VPN over RConnect for few days now. The response times seems to be faster during non-peak hours.
