igloo 1 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 Generally speaking, a top loader will require significantly less power than a front loader. On the other hand front loads use less water. If that 1 hr cycle includes soaking and stuff, effect on power consumption will be negligible. Front load works on concept of gravity. Clothes are taken to top tub be rotating there it stops and they fall down itself. So from what I have learned they consume less power also. yes 1hr cycle includes everything. But most clothes don't need that much effort and you can't stop in between. Remember front load vibrates a lot more and is hell like noisy. And if you stop in between clothe won't rinse and dry for that you'll have to start again. Thats why I am recommending it must have quick wash option. Using it depend all on you. raccoon 53 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 Front load works on concept of gravity. Clothes are taken to top tub be rotating there it stops and they fall down itself. So from what I have learned they consume less power also. So you are saying that power is saved just because the clothes fall down due to gravity, when they reach the top of a drum which rotates around a horizontal axis? I fail to understand how. If they don't fall and come down along with the drum, do you think that would save any energy??
