Original Or Duplicate

Recommended Posts

hey all...

i wanna buy a data cable for my n191 fone but am unable to decide on the orignal or duplicate piece.

i'm getting the duplicate for rs 175 n orig for rs 1200 but then i'll be using my priviledged customer coupons worth rs 1000 in it so its effictively rs 200 for the original one

the biggest question is that how much does the speed of rconnect vary in the 2 types of cables?? has ne one used both the types of cables?? esp for n191 or otherwise??

I am using generic DKU5 for my R-Connect service on nokia 2280. The cable works like a charm. I also have generic data cable for Samsung 191 that I purchased from UK but I haven't tried it.

I would advise you to go for the original cable. Read others experiences with third-party cables in this forum! Especially the third-party USB cables are very bad. Either their driver is incompatible with RConnect or RConnect deliberately rejects third-party cables/drivers. The third-party serial cables seem to be doing well. At least better than the USB ones.

By the way, what is this "privileged customer coupons" thing ? Who gets it ?

I bought the duplicate data cable for RD 2030 for Rs 400. Unfortunately due to some problem, the my phone was not detected through cable. I bought the original Rs 1200 and it worked like a charm.

However it doesnt means that all duplicate ones are bad. Some users have reported very well usage with duplicate ones too. If you are going for the duplicate one, make sure that you have the option of replacement or money return, incase the cable doesnt work.

There is nothing like Origianl and Duplicate. It is reliance supplied and aftermarket. Both work as well. The FWP USB version is only available in the aftermarket.

The Samsung cable is a straight USB version and using any should not make a difference. The aftermarket ones have charging whereas the one supplied by Reliance does not charge the phone while surfing for half and hour so it will die down.

Original cable supplied by Reliance also charges the phone, sometimes I have used the cable only to charge the phone in office when my charger is at home without r-connect/pc-sync.

<insider info>

Though, Reliance is planning to launch a cheap version of the cable pretty soon too. I am not sure whether its going to be another cable, or is Reliance going to slash the prices of the current cables only.

No, there are duplicate cables. They are one made by local companies. I have myself bought the faulty one. Reliability of those cannot be gauranteed.

Are you sure, In my case it was the duplicate one which charges the phone.

The reliance one I bought doesnt charges the phone and it works fine. I doubt they will

make multiple types of cables for single phone.

Dear Saurav, You will need a different data cable for the 6130. The data cable for 2030 is the same as 2130 and the 2230 data cable works with 5130 and 6130.

It depends on where you buy your data cables from. There are a lot of sellers who give replacement warranty for cables bought from them, if found to be not working.

Accepted that these cables are not made by Reliance / LG but most work as well. The Samsung N191 cables are very simple and it would be very difficult to make a faulty one. However, the LG USB cables have a USB Serial convertor in between and the matching causes all the problems and these could be defective.
