lostjournal 7 Report post Posted September 22, 2010 Hi Folks, I am planning to to buy a Blackberry Curve 8530 from the US. Now the question is when I return to India - can I hook up that phone with any CDMA operator? If yes, then which operator's blackberry Should I go for, depending upon the ease of unlocking - Verizon, Sprint, Virgin( Sprint backed)? Thanks.

This phone cannot be programed for Reliance as memory is locked, Also you cannot read SPC from handset, you need to buy it from ebay or from other US forums. then you can load PRL of Reliance / TATA / MTS even after that you need contacts to get this working on reliance / TATA / MTS it may take time , its not a fast food ! its a Birbal ka Khichada !! lostjournal 7 Report post Posted September 22, 2010 Thanks everyone for contributing. The thing is - the 3G frequencies of ATT and T-Mobile is not compatible with Asian/ European operators. And phone without 3G - is a bad idea. So eventually thought to buy a CDMA blackberry. For the time being, trying a $10 data add on to work on my Nokia E71. Will get to know, tonight - if it will work or I need to hook onto a costlier data plan for Smartphones .
