digitalnirvana 646 Report post Posted September 23, 2010 I was just now on the BBC website - this is the top news story, same on the Daily Telegraph - and these are respected UK newspapers not some gimmicky tabloid. Even TOI is reporting this as headline story. I am sure the western media is having a field day laughing at us, and Indians everywhere are being shamed. I wonder what were the organising committee doing for last 7 years as we won CWG bid in 2003? Just think of the audacity of these people who were thinking of bidding for 2020 Olympics and were saying till one week back that the Delhi games would be "better than Beijing"! Shame. Greatest 55 Report post Posted September 24, 2010 Kya hoga bharat ka.. people can connect various things with the games... for eg. some customers of an Indian company who are in EU or US or any other country, needs some products from you, which needs to be sourced from the govt., and after this cwg mess, they would possibly say, "You Indians are not able to organize the games properly, and how do you think, u guys will be able to source the product that we need on time?" Bahut kharab haalat hain.. Look at China, in such a short time they were able to get the Olympics organized.. They fu***ng built a humungous stadium, "The Nest"... wtf man... I am truely disgusted with whatever is happening...
city02 63 Report post Posted September 24, 2010 shameful but totally expected just goes to remind us that no matter how much we want to join world bodies like the UN SC, we do not deserve it not only are we a 3rd world country with 3/4th of the population in poverty but also 3rd class in terms of infrastructure we have world class corruption, pollution and population and little else there should be a ban on bidding for international sporting events until the entire sports ministry is scrapped and all the politicians & adminstrators replaced with proper audits of the spending
csmart 472 Report post Posted September 24, 2010 entire OC, Delhi CMs from the date we got rights to host the games and sports ministers should be tried for treason and hanged.. then only these politicians will realised. they do not have any shame or realised that how it has tarnished India's image across the globe. even the central govt. was silence when the issues was brought to their notice last year.. What a disgrace http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Not-interested-in-Indias-pride-only-in-Games-Hooper/articleshow/6635937.cms mike Hooper's reported comments on the capital's population, sources told TIMES NOW that Hooper once again reiterated that he was not interested in India's pride but was just interested in the smooth running of the Games. ..... Hooper's reported remark during a closed-door meeting on the Commonwealth Games when he lost his cool as authorities rejected a proposal for closing the Games lanes and talked about the city's "population hazard", Dik**** said, "It is really a very unkind and undiplomatic remark that has been made."
