kesav 127 Report post Posted October 6, 2010 There's an opinion in online world about the speed which we get through wireless technologies. With all parameters(signal strength, protocol, processor) reamining same, the following is the speed equation on computers. In-built wireless Modem > USB Modem > Tethered Mobile Is the above equation a myth or reality? Experts opinion awaited.....
me_saket 73 Report post Posted October 7, 2010 I have used USB modem and mobile I found that speed in mobile was higher than USB modem

SUDYEcaZ 67 Report post Posted October 7, 2010 After bit of google... It depends on which technology/Standard you are comparing.... for USB...if USB 3.0 is considered...which can go upto 5Gbps, off course we need to have modem to support that speed http://arstechnica.com/old/content/2007/09/intel-announces-demonstrates-usb-3-0.ars where as for Wifi modem if u take 802.11n which can go upto 600Mbps http://www.wirevolution.com/2007/09/07/how-does-80211n-get-to-600mbps/
kesav 127 Report post Posted October 7, 2010 Tethering techonology doesn't matter as we always know tethering technology speed(either WiFi/Bluetooth/USB) is much much greater than cellular speed even if you consider latest WiMAX/LTE on the signal side. Just consider speed of the standard on the Desktop/Laptop side is much greater than Cellular side for this discussion and then think whether that equation is true.
