niket 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 Reliance to offer broadband in 250 WebWorlds PTI[ THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2004 06:24:54 PM ] NEW DELHI: Expanding its retail business of providing seamless data and video connectivity, Reliance Infocomm is planning to offer broadband services at its all 250 WebWorld retail chain in 111 cities across the country by April this year. "At present only 40 Reliance WebWorld Centres provide broadband services like video-conferencing, gaming, surfing out of the total 250 and by April-end we hope all the centres would start offering broadband", Navneet Saluja, head, Sales Reliance India Mobile, Delhi and Rajasthan circle told PTI at the opening of the fifth WebWorld on Thursday. He said broadband played a key role in the entire marketing strategy of Reliance Infocomm, adding the company however is yet to evolve a revenue model on the same. He declined to comment on the investment needed for the expansion. At present, Reliance is offering four kind of tariffs of broadband in terms of cards in the denomination of Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 300 and Rs 500. With a Rs 500 card, users could have unlimited surfing and video-conferencing for a month. The cards are user-friendly for carrying a one-minute pulse, he said. While for video-conferencing, the speed is 768 Kbps, for surfing and gaming the speed of connectivity is 500 Kbps. The company on Thursday opened its fifth broadband-enabled WebWorld store in Delhi. RIM's brand ambassador crickter Virendra Sewag inaugurated the centre. Delhi has 18 WebWorld stores. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
