Arun 795 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 DAKC (Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City), Navi Mumbai February 24, 2004 In a joint appeal, both Reliance Infocomm and Reliance Energy (formerly BSES Limited) hereby urge their consumers to guard against baseless rumors doing the rounds regarding threatening disconnection of Reliance Energy (formerly BSES) electricity for non-payment of Reliance IndiaMobile (RIM) bills. Together Reliance Infocomm and Reliance Energy (formerly BSES) hereby categorically clarify that these rumors are malicious and motivated. Such rumors were floated in the past also and were strongly denied by us. Both Reliance Infocomm and Reliance Energy (formerly BSES) are independent companies conducting their respective businesses that are governed by independent set of regulations. As such there is no question of having any arrangement for recovering the dues of Reliance Infocomm by disconnecting their electricity. As responsible corporate citizens, we have always maintained the highest standards of ethics and conduct. Such malicious reports have therefore caused deep anguish not only to Reliance Infocomm and Reliance Energy (formerly BSES) but also to our consumers who have always held these organizations in high esteem and credibility. We request all concerned to report such misleading rumors to the 24 hour helpline at Reliance Infocomm (30336969) and Reliance Energy (formerly BSES) (30303030) and to help us identify the miscreants. hovs 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2004 The question of disconnecting electricity for non-payment of telephone bills may be too far fetched. It does not make reason to beleive it because BSES (formerly) should be catering to a very small percentage of their all india subscriber base. But don't be surprised if local rowdy sheeters manhandle you for recovery as was shown on a private television channel. The media personnel were also physically assaulted as reported. This issue was protested by various media associations and was adequately reported in the local media. And to my surprise, I found that they have inserted a clause in the application form that states that the subscriber will be liable for the expenditure incurred for recovery including those by the collection agents.
