Recharge Problems with TATA Docomo

Recommended Posts

I found this thing only in Tata Docomo They have normal as well as special recharge of same denomination

I had gone to recharge Rs 48 for 2 GB /month usage As usual I asked the vendor for 48 Rs recharge he did the recharge and I got Rs 41.xx talktime but no GPRS usage

I called on CC They told I should have told for a special recharge When I asked the vendor about this he had no idea as to what GPRS is. Now recharges are available with everyone including panwala and others who have no idea as to what GPRS is then how will they recharge for it.

Because of this I had to spend Rs 96 instead of Rs 48

Will you call this cheating or what. If I want to do talktime recharge won't I do of a 50 instead of 48

This is a typical problem with prepaid connections. Unavailability of proper recharge coupons, non-conversant vendors selling recharge coupons, finishing balance at odd hours, non-transparent billing, roaming problem in certain parts of the country (J&K or North Eastern states)........

Reliance Myservices scores above others on these issues

Operators should not provide normal and special recharges for the same denomination of amount. This is really confusing not only for the subscribers but also for the dealers. :Equivocado:

Been there, done that (something similar). But it seems you don't know that retailer can reverse an e-recharge within the next 24 or 48 hours or something (can't recall exactly). So you should have insisted that the retailer do a reversal and then re-recharge as special or normal recharge as required.

In my case Docomo CC actually themselves offered to call the retailer (I had to supply his ph number, which incidentally I had) and force him to reverse the recharge. Else retailers tend to deny that reversals are possible. Their CC even called me the next day to ask if I was satisfied by the resolution. I was surprised at their level of service. But later I found that it isn't consistent. Sometimes they just close a complaint with no resolution or explaination.

Actually, Docmo website does mention the details well now. So always make sure you read properly before doing a recharge and instruct the retailer accordingly. So if you do your job right, the story should not repeat.

Best is to recharge online using Docomo's website itself. You just have to select the right option. Its well designed that way, and I doubt you can go wrong even by oversight. Recharging thru retailers is anyway a pain in more than one way.

+1 to that. But in case of Docomo, what you say is valid only when you are charging thru retailers. In case of Docomo, it seems retailers themselves don't know about the special and normal recharge options.

With Idea I have found that it is simply the denomination that determines what recharge you will get. So in that sense it seems more idiot-proof.

Docomo again pissing me off again -

Need to do a "special" recharge and that option in their online payment page is simply not working. The "Paynow" button seems to have been disabled. And before that, nothing was happening when the radio button for the desired option was selected. Asked them on chat and the guy said simply press the tab button after selecting the option. After selecting the tab button, the "Paynow" button magically appears. But now its disabled.

No facility to charge thru SMS or USSD menu or any other way.

So wasted time visiting 2 retailers (which is itself quite a hassle). One said, we have stopped Docomo recharges. Next was The Mobile Store, and he told me that Docomo recharge has been giving them problems, server not working, etc. So dead end there too.

Do Tata products work sometimes?? ranting.gif Maybe next time we will hear that their servers started burning down like their Nanos...

Do we have to explicitly mention it as 'special recharge'? Last time CC guys said recharges below the denomination of Rs.50 can be done as special recharge only by the retailer.

Someone verify the same :)

previous.gif Don't know about that, as I go for full TT top-ups only. But if its true, they have truly no idea of the situation in the field - retailers usually refuse to recharge for such small amounts... or they ask for extra $$$ for doing it. mad.gif Besides, do they think their customers have nothing better to do than to hunt for retailers?

Good news for Docomo users. In reply to my query regarding recharging "Special" recharges (Special tariff vouchers, combo top-ups, etc) thru 3rd party recharge sites like Bank websites, Giftmate, Freecharge, etc., they have given the following clarification -

With reference to the mail appended we would like to inform you that we have confirmed it from the concerned team and the special recharge tariff done online is made applicable for the special benefits for reduced call and sms.

Further please write us back incase if you are not receiving the benefits after doing the online recharge, we will definitely get it rectified with the concerned team.

Regards,

So one can avail benefits of STVs thru these 3rd party websites. Yippeeeeeeee! Just hope it actually happens without issues...

@ Raccoon good piece of info :)

Have they addressed your complaint against non conferment of the double talktime promised under their fb offer?

previous.gif No!!! mad44.gif

I even threatened them with a port-out. A rather bored sounding lady called and casually promised that everything will be taken care of. Then then even sent an SMS registering the complaint or something. After that nothing till date. I guess its history now.

Just wasted my time. cursing.gif Had a very good mind to actually port out, but then the tariffs still work out cheapest for me and also they improved their voice network and EDGE too is bit better (but not consistently... sometimes it crawls) so.

yaar, --just remember --there are two type of recharges-simple (all top up)and special (includes data gprs/3g). So, do online or when u goto retailer--say it specifically.

that's all !

previous.gif Nopes dude.... there is no way to specify whether its special or normal when using third party websites like Bank websites, Freecharge, etc. With retailers of course you need to specifiy... but in my experience not all of them know about this even if you mention, and they botch it up and money and time goes down the drain.
