csmart 472 Report post Posted November 25, 2010 mukesh ambani new house consumes 6.3L units of electricity costing 70L. while teh avg usage for any household is abt 300 units. with this amoutn of electricity, abt 2100 house hold can "lighted".. its hi time tht govt take actiona nd ask mr. ambani to have his own generators rather than loading already crippled power supply. Source: TOI Mukesh Ambani's first power bill in Antilia —Rs70LMUMBAI: Mukesh Ambani's Godzilla-sized home in Mumbai, Antilia, has just notched up another headline. In the one month since he moved in with wife Nita and their three children, the house has generated a power bill of70,69,488, Mumbai's highest residential electricity bill. According to the bill for the month of September, Antilia consumed 6,37,240 units of power. To put it in perspective, an average household equipped with all electronic amenities consumes 300 units per month. Ambani was, in fact, given a discount of48,354 for prompt payment, so the70 lakh quoted earlier is minus this amount. Experts say it's is roughly equivalent to the monthly power bill of 7,000 homes! All about bijli-paani basics, eh?

Karthik R 246 Report post Posted November 25, 2010 wonder when the corporates will start behaving RESPONSIBLY. More than half the rural household in India are without electricity and find their way through darkness when the night creeps in. Those in the cities face frequent power outages and this man is wasteing so much resources! The house's fuse should be rightly unplugged by the Government. city02 63 Report post Posted November 26, 2010 all that conspicuous consumption has generated thousands of jobs also so its not all bad. instead of disconnecting his power, the govt should simply charge @ commercial or 5-star hotel rates and double their monthly bills... dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) If you start inquiring the electricity bill of rashtrapati bhavan, u will be even more surprised; and that also only for a status symbol created by the british... - http://www.zeenews.com/news644357.html a man who has done so much revenue and manpower generation for this country, deserves it... and he is not stealing it... though even he would have been surprised and would not like such kind of negative publicity; maybe it was his opening and all... he will definitely go in for power saving measures in the future imo... ami1 237 Report post Posted November 26, 2010 amir ho to aisa ho... varna na ho... I like this... capitalism ki jai ho... get inspired guys... dont look for excuses for not making it big... Really Bang On comment by DKaile. Besides, Money is very relative. We find 70 lac bill obscene but people on the streets would find us buying 20,000 handsets even more obscene (multiple ones at that - and just for a hobby - it really doesn't increase productivity in any big way) . Or paying a few thousand a month for data/voice when many watchmen/guards in housing societies get that as their entire months salary - after standing around for 12 hours or sitting in a lift the whole day (that is the most depressing job i think - i would commit suicide if i am made to do that ) ! As long the money was not made by illegal or corrupt means, we shouldn't grudge it but look up to them. Offcourse, the definition of legal/ethical/moral for business is equally debatable but that's a different topic altogeher.

Honest 836 Report post Posted November 26, 2010 I too didn't see any harm for this. Everyone wants to be big in life. And if Mukesh is happy spending such amount on himself and his family then whats wrong in it ? I heard many a times that Mukesh Ambani DONATES alot. If he earns and spend and also help the poor then where is the problem ? And afterall its his life, his earnings and he has full right to spend it as per his needs and liking. We don't have any right to interfere.
