Honest 836 Report post Posted November 26, 2010 Micromax's First Android Phone Coming Soon Micromax Andro is expected to be unveiled by the end of this month Micromax is one of the handset makers in India who has shown some sky rocketing popularity amongst entry-level handsets. Now, the company is reportedly going to introduce Google Android running handset dubbed Micromax Andro by the end of this month. At a special bloggers event scheduled in Delhi on November 27, Micromax will show off its first Android phone. Micromax Andro is rumored have a 2.8-inch resistive full touch screen and a 3.2 megapixel camera along with the Android 2.1 Eclair running on it. Apart from that the phone will house 600MHz microprocessor and purportedly sport the interactive input feature - SWYPE. Andro is expected to be priced between8,000 to9,000 segment. Around that price band, we have Samsung Galaxy 5 GT-i5503 with Android 2.1 running on it. Micromax has been quite bullish regarding its low-cost and feature rich handsets so far. Back in April, the company bagged the third position as India's largest mobile phone vendor. Micromax Andro is expected to keep the ball rolling for them. Karthik R 246 Report post Posted November 27, 2010 Spice have lauched their android device - MI 300 and MI 410 with really good specs but is little over priced at about 10k and 15k. Micromax launching it at sub 10k is a great move as now the masses can afford and experience the coolest OS around IMHO, I think it wont be practical to have an Android device at 5k - 7k as Google seeks, anyway not in the near future. Spice Mi300 is 3.2 inch capacitative screen with 5MP camera. Micromax is giving 2.8 inch resistive screen with 3.2MP camera. Micromax seems to be the more over priced one. raccoon 53 Report post Posted November 27, 2010 Seems quite overpriced to me. I mean why would one not buy a Samsung Galaxy 5 instead? Don't know specifically about this model, but Micromax phones generally have pretty poor cameras. I won't be surprised if the 2 MP on Galaxy 5 will be much better. @Karthik - Huawei intends to release the Ideos in India priced around 5k. I'm sure you know that already. The phone was scheduled to be released in November itself.

raccoon 53 Report post Posted November 28, 2010 @raccoon okay I meant the mainstream handset manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, LG, etc and not runaway overnight chinese ones I don't think you can call Huawei a runway overnight Chinese company. I'd expect better quality than than what is given by the smaller Chinese manufacturers and with acceptable SAR levels, etc. Lets see when they launch.... they were supposed to do it in November. No sign of it yet. Â
