anshu_s09 18 Report post Posted December 13, 2010 Reliance Communications (RCOM), India’s single largest dual technology telecom operator today announced the launch of 3G Mobile and Data Services in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh. The operator also said that By next three months it will launch it in the remaining nine circles for which the company has 3G spectrum. According to the official statement by RCOM, Presently the 3G Video calling facility will not be available to Reliance 3G mobile subscribers till it gets security clearance, and the operator is hopeful of getting it in the next few days. The 3G Data plan for prepaid/Postpaid users starts from Rs. 299 valid for 30 Days. All the Reliance 3G services plan comes with bundled tariff that include data, Voice and Video calls. The Default data charges will be 50p/MB. RCom expects revenues from 3G to start coming in within the next six to nine months and is anticipating a significant jump in subscriber base post mobile number portability. Targeting national footprint through associations with other telecos post March, it said it has already initiated partnerships. “We have partnered with Nokia for devices, Universal Music for content and Motricity for web portal,” the company spokesperson pointed out. The tariffs, they say, will be simple and will include daily sachet packs along with daily, weekly and monthly subscription rates for mobile TV. “There will be no separate data charges,” the company said adding that they would offer bundled prepaid and postpaid plans. Reliance Communications does not see a pricing war in third-generation (3G) mobile services, Syed Safawi, chief executive of its wireless business said on Monday. Maximum downlink speed is 21 mbps. Same SIM card can be used on phones and USB modems. Mobile TV will have 120 channels. Video call service may not be available initially since they are still waiting for clearance from DoT.
KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted December 13, 2010 Tariff atleast seems better than that of Docomo's 3G services... I hope Airtel and Vodafone will have to try very hard to get the money poured into Metros for 3G, because of RCom and MTNL's tariffs...
satishdave 2 Report post Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) So it means.... 3G would cost 50Paise/Mb + Bundulled Plan /month + call Charges = much expensive on an average, than what was initially thought about, when compared to regular calling !! NO... NOT like that.. Basic data tariff without any pack is 50p/MB.. This seems reasonable (without STV or pack).. In case of BSNL/MTNL it is 1p/10KB, which works out to Rs1/MB, but with 10KB pulse.. In case of COSTLY DOCOMO, it is 1p/1KB == Rs10/MB (May be they have used golden towers for their 3G services), but with 1KB pulse..

Dissappointed with tariffs. The difference would be in terms of pulse rate. In case of default plan, every time you access data, even for 20/30 KB, 50p would be deducted. In volume plans, the pulse rate is expected to be much smaller. My personal experience with Delhi MTNL 3G is that in default plan pulse is 10KB and in volume based plan its per KB. I'm right now sitting in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. On manual search on WCDMA only mode able to see the following networks, 1. Dolphin (MTNL) 2. INA Airtel 3. Honest 836 Report post Posted December 13, 2010 No price war in 3G space, says Reliance Comm MUMBAI: Leading telecom player Reliance Communications (RCom) today said there will be no price war in 3G mobile services space. "We do not see any price war in 3G space as there are going to be only 3 to 4 players in each network," RCom President and CEO (Wireless Business) Syed Safawi told reporters on the sidelines of a 3G launch here. Price in 2G have started stabilising and we have seen steady prices in the last 3-4 quarters, Safawi said. The competition in 3G would be not in pricing, but in content, innovation and quality of services, he said. RCom today launched 3G services for customers in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chandigarh. The private company would cover all its 13 zones by the end of March. The company hopes to see more revenue from the non-voice services. "Today non-voice revenue is estimated at 11-12 per cent of total mobile revenue. We expect the non-voice revenue to jump to 30 per cent in the next three years," Safawi said. RCom is in the forefront in offering non-voice services, he added. The Anil Ambani-led firm has partnered with top entities like Nokia for devices, Facebook, Nokia and Ericsson for applications, Universal Music for content and Motricity for the web portal. rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) Official Reliance 3G Plan Details https://docs.google....mknj_93cjvj98dh Some Key Points -If you only opt for 3G Data, 2G voice and SMS tariffs remain unchanged. -No Device Restrictions. It means you can use any access method. Phone, USB stick OR phone-as-modem. -No Restriction on Speed. This is Important. Speed depends on Device and not on Plan. (Tata Docomo restricts speed) -No Device Lock In. This means 3G USB Modem bought from Reliance may be unlocked. -There is no separate data charges for Mobile TV. (Tata Docomo i suppose charges for that) Edited December 14, 2010 by rajanmehta
