nayasaroj 14 Report post Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) While the 3G Launch of Major operators in India is just a couple of weeks away, we've got some bad news on 3G here. Once it's here, more than one crore people are speculated to use 3G and so are their brains to get damaged. Though the rest of the world has been exposed to these stronger radiations for years now, for India, it is now a new threat for us. Recent reports reveal that the population using 3G Services is likely to be affected by cancer and neuro-phsychiatric problems in the next two years due to exposure to harmful radiations, which are 20-15 percent stronger, with 3G coming in. Children below the age of 16 are the most vulnerable to this and are prone to brain cancer five times more than the adults, recent studies by the Electircal Engineering Department at Indian Institute of Technology reveal. And, children will be the most fascinated by video calling as soon as it's here, which leaves the worst choice for our Indian kids. They run the risk of developing neuro-psychiatric problems, including headache, memory loss, diz ziness, tremors, muscle spas ms, numbness, altered reflexes, muscle and joint pain, depression, and sleep disturbance. More severe reactions include seizures, paralysis, psychosis and stroke, says the study. The results of the study have been presented to the Telecom Department and no word from them have been received yet. sgiitk 32 Report post Posted December 16, 2010 I think there has been too much noise on the 'brain frying issue'. You get reports one way and then the other. Also, with 3G visual content will dominate so the handsets will (hopefully) not be glued to the ear for very long.
rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted December 16, 2010 While the concerns are real, it is not limited to 3G users only. Media sometimes try to sensationalize the story and the real meaning is lost. Mobile Tower Radiation and Mobile phone SAR hazards affect not only mobile users but all humans and also many birds, animals. 25 years back few People OR Governments took the ill effects of the Cigarette industry seriously. Today with awareness, same industry pays billions of dollars in fines in America. Today Mobile Radiation is not considered serious enough but in a way more harmful than cigarettes. You can choose not to Smoke!! Here you just cannot escape. So instead of just considering this as trivial , download the following Excellent Study done by Elect. Engg. Deptt. IIT, Mumbai and read it. You Will Be Surprised and Shocked. And You Will be More Aware. 37796846-Radiation-Hazards-from-Cell-Phones-and-Cell-Towers-Presentation-at-KEM-Hospital.pdf

inception 75 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 Pvt EVDO players, specially MTS who is saying DATA DATA and Only DATA some days back is now silent, instead of making the tariff more affordable (which can be learnt from BSNL). CDMA has no bright future in India, users are moving to GSM for better handsets and at a point for better tariffs. MNP will certainly kick CDMA players' back! CDMA players have to reduce their data tariff, otherwise they will be doomed! As subscribers are going down, they can go into DOrB to offer upto 14.7Mbps speed to beat GSM 3G player by utilizing 5MHz spectrum (4 carriers of 1.25MHz - 3 for EVDO and 1 for voice). It is fact that people may take Tata Photon+ but never Tata Docomo 3G!
