Please suggest a CDMA handset to be used with TATA Indicom

We recently took a Tata Indicom CDMA Corporate connection and they gave us some Samsung Corby TV handsets, which is ridiculuous, compared with the Nokia N82 that I was using. I do understand that Nokia users will find Samsung to be inferior.

Nevertheless, I wish to buy a good CDMA handset for my wife, to use it on the Tata network. I have someone in Tata who should be able to activate it for me, though he says it depends on the handset.

I need your suggestion on a good handset, that maybe I can buy online. Budget is around 15-20 K. A good camera is essential, other than the basic features. I definitely prefer Android, especially 2.2 if possible.

Not true and contradictory Nokia does not have Android which you mentioned as a prerequisite

I am not sure but even with that budget you may not get Android+CDMA combo!

Samsung Galaxy i899 which is priced around Rs 18000 now, comes with obsolete Android 1.5!

There are some good CDMA handsets from Samsung, which are not android, but really good for use! they mostly come at around Rs10k!

Remember Nokia stopped making CDMA and NO Android from Nokia

If your tata insider can activate ur number regardless of handset, then in 20k u can get samsung fascinate / epic.
