KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted January 3, 2011 Wow... Vodafone has reduced Roaming rates to the level of RCom when MDA gave RCom to ADA.. But still it is better, as recently RCom has HIKED roaming rates to Rs1/Rs1/Rs1.50, which is even higher than that of Vodafone.... One thing, I CAN NEVER understand with these telecom operators (Incl our newB MTS) that Roaming SMS charges are more than RoamingSTD call charges.. Why?? These operators are fearing that we users will b0mbard their towers using ROAMING SMS, if they kept its cost low??? Even IUC is NIL in case of SMS..
Karthik R 246 Report post Posted January 3, 2011 Comparitively new operators like MTS who does not have a full fledged national presence in place, rely on other operators (Tata Indicom in this case) for providing roaming network to the customer. Hence charged more. Though the data transmitted in a SMS is miniscule (1kb) the operators fear that the user will exploit it to clog the visiting network. csmart 472 Report post Posted January 3, 2011 telcos cannot charge more for voice. while SMS rates even hiked, do not get that much attention. so they keep SMS rates high.

KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted January 4, 2011 May be because only vodafone has got 3g license for both mumbai and mah. They are too confident that high end customers won't go away from them Sent from my EPIC 4G using Tapatalk

Karthik R 246 Report post Posted January 4, 2011 @Kamal bhai It may be because Mumbai/Maharashtra have the most number of migrants and hence incidence of roaming will be higher
