StaticElectricity 8 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 Greetings, fellow members, been quite a while since I posted anything at RIMweb. Coming to the point, I am in need of an extremely low latency and high uptime line to the internet, especially to the US. Can anyone give me some insight into the matter? I'd like to know which provider to go with, links to plans and tariffs, reliability out of past experiences etc. Also, whether the leased lines are fiber optic or copper wire and perhaps differences in connectivity between these two. By what tests I have done, I've found out that, Airtel 2Mbps home plan lines give around 330ms whereas Airtel 2Mbps business plan lines give around 300ms MTNL 1Mbps gives 350ms. All the lines that I have tested, are normal ADSL lines.
ACS 130 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 Hi, Leased Line connectivity can cost upto 4-5 times more, compared to home bb plans.. You can go in for 1Mbps LL with a Premium SLA of 99.9% I can get back to you with the exact latency to any specific IP in US.. you may PM. As RComm is the only Indian ISP to own a Dual ring Undersea Fibre Optic Cable infra across the globe (having acquired FLAG & FALCON), hoping their latency will be lowest. Aside to other members.. Last year we had tied-up with RComm Enterprise Business also, for their Voice & Data solutions. So this is also one of the products we're involved in. Can try to deliver OR help acquire in your respective cities...
copperco2 24 Report post Posted January 13, 2011 These days most of the networks provide fiber optic cables and deemed to be faster.. ofcourse where the network spread is not there then may be they will provide on the old and trusty copper.. I had done some research couple of years back.. that time Leased lines used to be super prime but not so right now.. One of the option would be satellite based broadband the kind provided by hughes and tata. Others can also be in this domain but i am not aware.. Hughes pl check the link as they have some scheme going on..
StaticElectricity 8 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 Yeah, I have considered VSAT connections, but in terms of latency, they are very very slow. 250ms is just the propagation delay from base station to the satellite. So VSAT lines are a non-viable solution for me. Thanks for the link.

Notam 43 Report post Posted January 17, 2011 For what purpose do you require a LLC. As stated above it is costly. Not every ISP will not be able to provide you with a LLC.
