rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted February 10, 2011 HP Pre 3 packs 1.4GHz Snapdragon CPU Features 3.58-inch touchscreen display and 5 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording, QWERT Keyboard Official Product Page http://www.palm.com/...ts/phones/pre3/ HP had unveiled Pre 2 based on Palm webOS 2.0 hardly three months ago. Now HP has introduced Pre 3 with powerful internal specifications to leapfrog the predecessor models at the Think Beyond event in San Francisco, US. Packing a 1.4GHz Qualcomm processor, the Pre 3 has 3.58-inch touchscreen which is wee bit bigger than Pre 2 model with 3.1-inch touchscreen. HP will make Pre 3 available later this summer for both GSM and CDMA networks with webOS 2.2 running on it. Joining the Pre smartphones family, the new Pre 3 retains the vertical slide-out physical QWERTY form factor. New HP Pre 3 has 3.58-inch WVGA display that supports 480x800 pixel resolution and offers 24-bit vibrant color depth. Considering the screen specifications, the phone s webOS interface and the text would certainly look very crisp. Also slightly bigger touchscreen brings bit wider gesture area for your fingers to enjoy the intuitive webOS 2.2 interface. Internally, Pre 3 comes with second generation 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8x55 chipset. Apparently, the Pre 3 GSM/HSPA+ version will sport MSM8255 chipset while CDMA version will sport MSM8655 chipset. Packing 512MB RAM, Pre 3 will come in 8GB or 16GB internal storage options. Yes, we do anticipate the webOS 2.2 update to be more fluid and intuitive on this powerful handset. The specifications of the Pre 3 are as follows: - HP webOS 2.2 - Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8x55 1.4-GHz processor - 3.58-inch multitouch screen with a vibrant, 24-bit color, 480 x 800 resolution display - Gesture area, which enables simple, intuitive gestures for navigation - Redesigned vertical slide-out QWERTY keyboard with backlight - 8GB or 16GB internal storage - High-performance browser with full access to the web, including support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 beta for access to rich, Flash-based web content - Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n with WPA, WPA2, WEP, 802.1X authentication - Integrated GPS (and A-GPS) - Bluetooth wireless technology 2.1 + EDR with A2DP stereo Bluetooth support - Wi-Fi router functionality for up to five devices using HP mobile hotspot - Multimedia options, including music, photos, video recording and playback, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack - Rear-facing autofocus camera with flash, HD camcorder (capable up to 720p video recording) - Front-facing VGA fixed-focus camera for live video calling - Email, including EAS (for access to corporate Microsoft Exchange servers) and personal email support (Google Gmail push, Yahoo!, POP3, IMAP) - Robust messaging support (combining IM, SMS and MMS capabilities) - Proximity sensor, light sensor, accelerometer and compass - Removable, rechargeable 1,230 mAh battery - USB mass storage mode to transfer media and other files quickly between desktop and device - Ringer switch, which easily silences the ringer with one touch - Compatible with HP Touchstone (sold separately) - Dimensions: 111 mm x 64 mm x 16 mm (4.37 inches x 2.52 inches x .63 inches) - Weight: 156 grams (5.5 ounces) Following the Google Android and Apple iOS footsteps, even webOS will sport mobile hotspot option that will turn Pre 3 into a mobile access point. One can connect up to five devices through that mobile hotspot. Pre 3 has the same 5 megapixel camera as in Pre 2 but it can record 720p HD videos. Business class customers get the encrypted email and data storage and also support industry standard VPN networks. HP Synergy takes care of Linkedin, Yahoo!, Facebook, Google and Microsoft accounts while the integrated messaging system acts as multi-account IM in threaded view. HP has added new Touchstone technology charging support Pre 3 and also enabled touch-to-share feature for sharing web URLs with TouchPad. Pre 3 comes with 1230mAh battery that is expected to last longer than the 1150mAh one in the Pre 2 smartphone. Pricing and availability of this smartphone would be announced later this summer. This is the fourth Pre family phone and we hope it comes to Indian shores. Considering at the number of mid-range and high-end Android handsets hitting India, HP will certainly consider to launch Pre 3 in India. Bablus 66 Report post Posted February 10, 2011 HP needs to work first on the apps market and apps support for its smart phones to sell better... New devices are welcomed... but there should be more variations as well, instead of going the Iphone way of having a single form..
ami1 237 Report post Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) Great Hardware ! But its more important is to actually launch the new devices quickly rather than so many announcement and nothing much available in the markets. Also quicker OS upgrades for older models would help in building confidence - its been so long and no webos 2 update for Pre or Pre+ etc. Inspite of being one of the best OS, it no longer seems to be good enough to buy. Karthik R 246 Report post Posted August 9, 2011 The upcoming HP Pre 3 will be packing a dual-core CPU at launch, rather than the 1.4Ghz single-core unit it was initially said to feature. HP has remained surprisingly quiet about the change, but the Pre 3 specs sheet on its website now say "Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-CPU APQ8060 1.2GHz".

No, it's a typo error that creeped into Hp Uk website about a month ago(read here), and it's already been corrected, now on UK hp website also you would see same specs regarding hardware specs(especially about processor). @Akash 23 Report post Posted August 9, 2011 (edited) ^^^ "Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-CPU APQ8060" does not have any radio for GSM or CDMA. This was a mistake by one of HP's European website. The Snapdragon dualcore processor APQ8660 has the support for GSM/CDMA. This is the same processor which powers HTC EVO 3D. HP is scheduled to launch HP Touchpad 4G with this processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. Edited August 9, 2011 by @Akash
