Two New HTC Phones Bear Facebook Key

Rumored to run Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update

Rumors about HTC Facebook phones will turn out to be true albeit partially. We expected Facebook's deeper integration into an HTC handset running Google Android OS. Jason Mackenzie, HTC North America's President told Seattle Times that two HTC models - one QWERTY and other full touchscreen, will sport a dedicated Facebook key with F logo on it. He further clarified that, "we will not brand this (phone) as Facebook phone or anything" and thereby dispersed all the rumours about the Facebook phones.

Both new HTC devices will have a dedicated Facebook key with F logo at the bottom of the front panel. Facebook has been integrated to the HTC Sense interface so that the users can add updates to their favourite social network quickly.

ull QWERTY keyboard bearing HTC ChaCha model has 2.6-inch touchscreen display. This handset will compete with other QWERTY devices like the BlackBerry Curve and Motorola Charm. Apart from dedicated F logo for social network Facebook, ChaCha model also incorporates direction pad at the end of the left corner of the QWERTY keypad.

At the side lies the microUSB port for data connection. HTC ChaCha's QWERTY keyboard part appears to be a bit front bended and is thereby similar to the famous "outward chin" design of HTC Magic. The phone does have a camera but its Image Sensor capacity is unknown at the moment.

The second handset is full 3.4-inch touchscreen bearing HTC Salsa. Appearing to be a part of HTC Desire's kin, Salsa doesn't have a trackball or d-pad but comes with just four dedicated optical keys. Facebook's F logo key rests just below these dedicated Menu keys. PocketNow has grabbed high resolution press photos of HTC ChaCha and Salsa.

Both these HTC Facebook phones will run Android 2.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) interface which would be like Android 3.0 Honeycomb but for smartphones. HTC ChaCha and Salsa handsets would be made available in the second quarter of 2011.
