kshah 452 Report post Posted February 23, 2011 Ebook readers are convinient only if books are in EBOOK format. PDF reading is not at all good. I have KINDLE and reading is very comfortable but only if its in EBOOK format. There are sites where you get all sort of ebooks. Most ebook readers supplied by book sellers support proprietary formats.
phonegeek 588 Report post Posted February 23, 2011 What about converting pdf to EBOOK format? Possible/useful?
kshah 452 Report post Posted February 23, 2011 No not possible. E book format is very very compact and taxt only sort of format. PDF is more of image sort of format. Ebook More here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_e-book_formats My honest opinion, if at all you are planning to read PDF on ebook reader, please do not consider buying ebook readers. phonegeek 588 Report post Posted February 27, 2011 I am zeroing on kindle 3 simply because of its fabulous battery life and screen. I had considered nook color buts its main disadvantage is battery life and screen glare. Now can someone tell me whether a Kindle 3 U.S. version(wifi only) will work in India over wifi? I learnt that i cannot make direct purchases of books from device but can i do it by purchasing on pc and then syncing to kindle? Is there any other restriction regarding using it in India? Thanks Sent from my Android Device
kshah 452 Report post Posted February 28, 2011 You can not use books purchased for PC on kindle unless you have two devices registered. WiFi version may have good ESN for india. 3G version usually do not work. All books are DRM protected and when you buy book on amazne one has to specify on which device book need to be delivered. On another device that book book do not work. Hacked books are avaiolable on forums though.
phonegeek 588 Report post Posted February 28, 2011 Thanks for the info. I would go for Wifi version only. As you are using the kindle, can you tell me whether .mobi books are displayed properly on it?
