kesav 127 Report post Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) Vodafone launches HSDPA-7.2 Mbps WiFi router at Rs. 5500 The device is priced at Rs 5500 the device is cheaper than what Tata Photon offers. The product is quite useful. We hope that Vodafone launches an unlimited plan for this device that will really sweeten the deal for students and small professional teams. Tata Phonton which offers a respectable 3.1 mbps speed has a similar WiFi dongle which is priced at Rs 6500, almost Rs 1000 costlier than Vodafone offer, and doesn't even offer unlimited plans which they offer for other data cards and dongles. Vodafone also has been selling 3G dongles for Rs 1500, but right now in absence of 3G services it is offer services through edge network with max speed of 256 kbps. There are certain phones which come with MiFi capability, including Huawei Ideos, Motorola Milestone, and Apple iPhone. source :: http://www.themobileindian.com/new-launches/233_Vodafone-launches-MiFi-device Vodafone Link http://www.vodafone.in/3gworld/pages/3g_serivces.aspx?cid=tam The pricing is certainly not typical Vodafonish.... Instead it's quite attractive when compared against the current offers in the market. TATA Photon EVDO-3.1 Mbps WiFi router at Rs. 6499 http://www.tataphoton.com/tata-photon-wi-fi.aspx Reliance EVDO-3.1 Mbps WiFi router at Rs. 8000 http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/internet/wireless_internet_netconnect+wi-fi_router.html I feel it's high time for TATA Photon and RCDMA to rationalize their pricing. For just 3.1 Mbps, price of Rs.6499/ Rs.8000 In Vodafone, for 7.2 Mbps device only Rs.5500 Edited April 16, 2011 by kesav
confused_follower 12 Report post Posted March 1, 2011 What about Voda's coverage? As pointed out they went ahead and tried to sell 3G dongles even without any network or any plans to roll it out soon Would rather wait and see their coverage and then jump. Just out of curiosity will this router be locked to Voda network?
