Sprint, in cooperation with Reliance Infocomm, now will be able to offer its comprehensive suite of corporate data services to help companies connect to employees, offices or business partners in and outside of India. IP nodes have been deployed in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore. As part of this expansion effort, Sprint has signed network agreements with Reliance Infocomm, an India-based communication firm. Reliance Infocomm will provide international connectivity to India and intracountry “last mile” connectivity for Sprint in servicing U.S.-based and global multinational corporations. One of the first companies to benefit from this IP service arrangement in India is Black & Veatch Corporation, a U.S.-based leading global engineering, consulting and construction company with an office in Pune, India. A long-time Sprint customer, Black & Veatch uses a variety of voice and data services and has been working with Sprint to migrate its data network from frame relay to IP-based. Sprint and Reliance will provide IP data connectivity to support their wide area network (WAN) for the office in Pune. Paget Alves, president – Strategic Markets, Sprint Business Solutions, said that Sprint’s reputation as one of the few truly global network players provides a compelling reason for multinational organizations to look to Sprint for their network needs. “Sprint is deploying its network resources in areas most important to the U.S.-based and global multinational corporations that make up our customer base,” said Alves. “This new connectivity to India joins an IP presence to connect locations in North America, South America, Europe and Asia Pacific, ensuring that Sprint continues to meet the growing needs of our customers.” Key services now available in India through Reliance include dedicated Internet, MPLS VPN, managed security and managed network services, as well as a market-leading Layer 2 suite of IP-based services (based on next-generation L2TPv3 technology) designed to facilitate the migration from legacy network services. All services are backed by Sprint’s industry-leading Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The Sprint/Reliance Infocomm relationship will extend Sprint’s reach across India through Reliance Infocomm’s network backbone, based on a fully redundant architecture covering over 1,400 cities of India. “Together, this relationship will benefit both companies by efficiently extending the reach of our respective networks,” said Bhagwan Khurana, Group President, Reliance Infocomm. “By working with Sprint, Reliance Infocomm is expanding its international reach, and this is yet another addition in our portfolio of services being offered to Indian transnational corporate houses.
