KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 Apart from raw specs comparision, I would like to point out few positive points of MediaTek-Quad SoC used in Canvas_HD 1) Like Snapdragon S4 series its made using 28nm process and said to be even power-efficient Snap_S4 DualKrait 2) It NOT only has integrated chip, but also 42Mbps HSPA+ modem inbuilt 3) Plus NATIVE DualSIM with Dual_ACTIVE support 4) Not only Supports FullHD 1080p playback and recording @ 30fps, but also can handle 1080p screens 5) Integrated 4-in-1 connectivity combo WiFi-n, BT 4.0, GPS and FM Radio 6) Also supports 13MPx and/or 3D camera Source: ENGADGET Though it slightly loses to all QuadCore mobile processors (Tegra3, S4_Pro, Exynos_Quad), it beats all in power effeciency and price. Further IMHO, the real life MAX performance mile-stone is playing 1080p videos without breaking sweat (imho we can't load the phone more than that in real life [exc ofcourse gaming] and benchmarks are just for bragging rights) and this does it easily... 5" IPS LCD screen will be good for viewing videos (FullHD) and browsing. DualSIM is a great plus. I do hope carrying this huge single phone is better than carrying two mid-size phones (GNexus + RazrMAXX in my case). So its a loot for Rs14999/- (even if you need to sacrifice about after sale service as its Micromax)... I will use it for 3 months and will give it to my mom (as 5" screen is good for her eyes).
MOBILE FAN 42 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 Now the Indian mobile makers have created a serious threat to global manufacturers. What Samsung did to Nokia, - days are not far that Samsung will be Samsunged by Micormax/Karbonn. sorry to differ, It shouid be Indian Mobile Importers. For that matter all the phones in India are imported and almost all of them are effectively-made-in-China - Be it Samsung, IPhone, Micromax, Karbonn and many more... When I said Indian mobile makers, I didnt mean manufacturers, They are not cheap makers. Few of them are actually assembling those phones in India. The only difference between Indian brands and the global ones are where they assemble their products. For most of them the source is only one.

Jagan T 16 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) ^^^^^^WOW, nice specs for sub 15k phablet... All specs (except the 2100mAh battery for 5" HD IPS display + QuadCore processor) are good.. Thank God, they removed all the negative points from previous Canvas series (512MB RAM, ICS, WVGA display, etc) and retains all their pros (DualSIM 3G+2G, DualCam, FM Radio, SD slot) Even all the Canvas series phones from Micromax are easy to root and there is CWM recovery for them too. There is even mods to swap external storage with internal storage to overcome the small internal memory --4GB (2GB available to user and <1GB for apps and games). Those who are interested in this mobile, buy it once its available in online stores. Because I expect this device will get huge demand and Micromax may increae its price in next month. ---------------------------- Imagine browsing or viewing videos on 720p IPS display of size 5" and much cheaper than HTC one V or Galaxy S Duos??? Congrats Micromax for this spec! Its not easy to get good appreciation from Kanaga! :) (But IMHO, 5 Inch is really unfit in the pocket. 4" will be opt) Edited January 23, 2013 by Jagan T

I have changed the perception. In last 1 year, I recommended Spice, Karbonn and Micromax to my family and friends and they actually bought them too. In all, I was able to influence them to buy 8 handsets last year. Believe me, they are happy. Here, it is not the company's reputation, but my own reputation at stake. dr.faramroze 703 Report post Posted February 15, 2013 Swipe Telecom of USA has marketed their tablet range and smartphone Fablet F1 and MTV. The Fablet, a 5 inch, dual SIM, 3G on one SIM, 1Ghz processor, coupled with 512 ddr3 ram. I tested the phone in Indraprashta, Mumbai. The screen response is good, fair incall quality, fast. Priced at Rs 8900. Though the handset carries a 18 month guarantee, I personally feel it is of China origin. It is factory rooted with Android 4.0. Strange. nitink 279 Report post Posted February 15, 2013 Micromax Canvas HD sells over 9,000 units in 24 hours Mobile consumers are returning Micromax’s Valentine’s Day love. Its newly released phone, the Canvas HD, has already sold over 9,000 units online in less than 24 hours, Micromax said today. The Canvas HD which was launched exclusively online on Thursday has been Micromax’s one of the most awaited products this year. Data from the company’s online partner, Snapdeal.com showed that the first lot of the Canvas HD was sold out within 15 minutes of announcing sale on the midnight of 14 February. The second lot of 300 units was also sold out within 15 minutes of the sale at 9 am and the third lot of 1,200 phones was sold in 45 minutes with the beginning of the sale at noon on Thursday. “This product exceeded our expectations by a huge margin. We took this live at midnight and we were completely surprised to see all 500 units which we expected to sell in the entire day sold out within 15 minutes of launch. Our call volume shot through the roof with enquiries and we have replenished inventory levels to cater to more sales. This kind of pace of sales beats our previous records,” Tony Navin, vice president, Business Development, Snapdeal said. Micromax, in a statement has said that got a booking order for 9,000 units of the Canvas HD, in less than 24 hours since its launch. “After the unprecedented success of the Canvas 2, we are overwhelmed with the customer response for Canvas HD. This is the first time our online sales partners have ever witnessed a digital queue in cyberspace to such an extent for any product,” said Shubhodip Pal, CMO Micromax. “We expect the sales of this device to touch a new high in the coming weeks which will soon be available for sale at all leading retail stores in the country. We hope to further strengthen our leadership in the new phablet category in India,” Pal said. The phone which was launched on midnight of 14 february has seen a booking pace of 25 units per minute. Priced at Rs 13,990, the Canvas HD is Micromax’s first quad core processor phone and launched sales only online. Micromax also launched the Bolt A35 on Valentine’s Day . It is its first phone in the Bolt category and comes with ‘Flash Transfer’. rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted February 17, 2013 Micromax A116 Canvas HD Performance Review vs. Other Quad-Core Phones Source We take a look at the comparison between the long-awaited budget quad-core Micromax A116 Canvas HD smartphone versus not just budget smartphones in the same price range, but premium quad-core devices as well. We have spent quite a bit of time with the Micromax A116 Canvas HD and we think the smartphone is quite impressive. But being the first “budget” quad-core device, we do have our skepticism. Before we go into a detailed review of the device, we thought we’d compare the A116 Canvas HD to other smartphones, top-end quad-core offerings, as well as other budget devices in that price range. Micromax Canvas HD A116 vs. Quad-core Flagship Smartphones We know it’s not an apples to apples comparison, but we still decided to see how the Micromax Canvas HD A116 stacked up against the crème de la crème of the smartphone world. So, below, we have budget Micromax Canvas HD A116 compared with the top-of-the-line LG Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC Butterfly, HTC One X+ and the Samsung Galaxy Note II, phones priced around the Rs. 30,000 mark. Six months ago, we would never even have considered pitching a budget Android smartphone against any premium quad-core device. Now, though the Canvas HD doesn’t beat the top-end smartphones, it still does post some respectable scores, offering roughly 75 percent of the average benchmark performance of the other devices. Micromax Canvas HD A116 vs. Other Smartphones in Rs. 15,000 Segment Most of the devices in the Rs. 15,000 price range have a dual-core processor coupled with 1GB or 512MB of RAM. We compared the Micromax A116 Canvas HD to other smartphones around the Rs. 15,000 price point. This includes devices such as the Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530, iBall Andi 4.5q, WickedLeak Wammy Sensation, Lenovo S560 and the HTC One V. The Micromax A116 Canvas HD did outperform the competition and quite frankly, we were impressed with the results. In the Quadrant benchmark, the Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi-530 scored second after the A116. The Stellar Pinnacle has a dual-core 1.2GHz processor coupled with 1GB of RAM whereas the A116 has a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. Quadrant measures the performance of the CPU, I/O and 3D graphics of the smartphone. Higher the score, better the performance of the device. In Antutu, the A116 blows the competition straight out the window, proving that the power under the hood is spectacular. Antutu tests a device on "Memory Performance", "CPU Integer Performance", "CPU Floating Point Performance", "2D 3D Graphics Performance", "SD card read-write speed", and “Database IO" performance. The higher the score, the better the performance of the device. The score gives you a mathematical representation of the potential of a smartphone so it can easily be compared to competing smartphones with similar hardware specifications at a similar price point. The same can be said for the GLBenchmark Egypt Standard Classic (Frames) benchmark. This benchmark shows off the graphical capabilities of a device and is generally used to measure the gaming and graphical capabilities of the device. If you are one who would like to play games on your mobile device and don’t like the stutter you get when the action gets intense on your smartphone screen, you are in for a treat. In NenaMark2 (FPS) the device ran at 40.8 FPS making it the best in its class. So, if you decide to play Dead Trigger or any other high graphical game on the phone, the game should play smoothly, which coupled with the good response of the touchscreen and the size of the device, make the Micromax A116 Canvas HD quite ideal to play games on. Summing It Up For the price you pay, you are getting a great package in the form of the A116. Of course, it's not just the device's performance that make it quite impressive, but a round-up of other solid features. The Micromax A116 Canvas HD has a 5-inch IPS LCD display with a 1280x720 pixel resolution. It is 10.7mm thin and weighs a mere 156 grams. It also houses a 2000mAh battery, an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front facing camera. The Canvas HD runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and comes with a refreshing 'upgradeable to Android 4.2' claim. Coming back to the performance, it's safe to say most of the credit for the quite incredible showing of the Micromax A116 Canvas HD goes to the quad-core 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6589 processor powering the device, coupled with the PowerVR Series5XT GPU, and 1GB of RAM. If this is the future of budget smartphones, we can’t wait to see what Qualcomm does to take on MediaTek with its own ‘budget’ quad-core capable SoC.

KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) ^^^^^^ NOT only the performance of CanvasHD will be better than xolo A1000, the battery life will be better in CanvasHD.. Even though the processor in CanvasHD is quad-core, its light on battery as its made using 28nm process/tech like Snapdragon S4 and 40nm in case of xolo... Further Quad-A7 in CanvasHD is less power hungry than Dual-A9... Edited February 17, 2013 by KanagaDeepan

rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted February 18, 2013 Is the Xolo 1000 almost equally good ? or is there a large difference in performance. In addition to what KanagaDeepan posted, Xolo A1000 has Mediatek's earlier generation chipset MT6577 with an older/weaker PowerVR SGX531 GPU compared to PowerVR Series 5XT GPU in Micromax A116 Canvas HD. A comparison of canvas A116 with Karbonn S1 Titanium will be interesting.Karbonn S1 with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean 4.5-inch qHD multi-touch capacitive touch display 5 MP camera 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor and 1GB RAM internal memory of 4GB for Rs.10, 990. Karbonn S1 Titanium has Qualcomm SoC MSM8625Q which has a 5 year old year 2008 Cortex A5 Processor in quad core with adreno 203 GPU (Which is poor compared to PowerVR SGX544 in Canvas HD). In addition Canvas HD has a better display resolution of 1280×720 with a ppi of 293 compared to 960x540 with a ppi of 245 for Karbonn S1 Titanium.
