Karthik R 246 Report post Posted April 15, 2011 Excellent piece of information Rajan bhai. The spoofs on "Pick Pocket Internet" and "High priced 3G is here" is too funny such a frontal attack is surely going to draw retribution from GSM quarters. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Motorola Glam XT800 is now available at a revised price of Rs. 23,990. me_saket 73 Report post Posted April 15, 2011 great info. But how many will really turn up to tata for using this?? Everybody will have preferring for 3G only.
Karthik R 246 Report post Posted April 15, 2011 Saket consider the following - 1. Per /Gb cost of Evdo is almost half cheaper than what is currently being offered in Gsm. (Rs.320 v/s Rs.650+) 2. It will take at least a year from now for 3G GSM operators to match the EVDO coverage, provided the latter remaining stagnant. For seamless high speed connectivity, evdo is still preferable. 3. Evdo is being offered in the 800 Mhz band which is far more penetrative and efficient than HSDPA on 2100 Mhz. In my opinion, the future of mobile broadband in India will be shaped by 4G services - LTE and Wimax by Reliance Infotel, Bharati, Aircel, etc. The whole scene is going to undergo a drastic change in a years time! rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted April 16, 2011 ^^^^^^^ I don't see any NUC (Network Usage Charges) there... NUC means you would need to pay TWICE for using the SAME DATA ALLOWANCE... First As The Base Cost of The Pack & Second NUC on the quantum of Data Consumed on a Per MB Basis What page 17 of the presentation says is DIFFERENT by explaining Content Charge & Access Charge (Data Usage). It is giving illustrative example how you are charged in case of Paid Content like Live Mobile TV, Movie on Demand, App Portal Downloads, etc. 1st Charge: The Amount To Be Paid For One Time Weekly/Monthly Subscription Fees for Live TV OR Single Time Cost For Each App when downloaded. 2nd Charge: Whenever you access such Content, The DATA consumed in doing so will be deducted from the DATA Plan Allowance Your Plan Offers. i.e. If Your Data Plan Allowance is 1 GB & watching Live TV Consumes 60 MB in an Hour, 60 MB is deducted... Practically It is defining Access Charge as Data Usage Deduction....

Though EVDO is a preferred technology, people will move to GSM as well as HSPA more and more due to hundreds options on GSM/HSPA handsets. Also selling locked modems is going against EVDO, while people can buy unlocked GSM/HSPA modem to use SIM of any operators. And BSNL 3G tariff is already affordable compared to EVDO players. Even settings to connect EVDO is complex.

commonman 228 Report post Posted April 16, 2011 Fortunately RCOM does not charge for data consumed in Mobile TV. http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/3G/HTML/mobileTV_overview.html only R-GSM 3G and MTNL 3G does not have separate charges for data consumed in Mobile TV. All other EVDO/GSM-3G operators, including BSNL, charges for the data use. MTS does not have any monthly subscription charges, all others charge monthly subscription also.
