rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted April 21, 2011 Just In: Samsung Fascinate ED01 Froyo Update Starts Early, Rolling Out Now [updated: Download Link And Instructions] Source What an incredible day for Samsung Fascinate users on Verizon Wireless – earlier this morning, we reported that the coveted Froyo update was finally set to arrive tomorrow, April 21st. Looks like someone at Verizon pulled the trigger a little earlier, as we are seeing multiple reports of the update rolling out as we speak write. Want some proof? Have a look at the screenshot (that can easily take the top prize in the ugliest Android screen ever contest) our own Justin Case just pulled from his Fascinate: So, grab your Fascinates and start mashing the Check for Updates button to see if your update is already waiting for you. Update #1: Fascinate software update page at VZW Update #2: Looks like Verizon's servers only respond to devices that access them using the VZW network or use additional authentication. Therefore, the direct link to the update will not be possible, but we'll try to put up a mirror with some instructions as soon as we have either. Update #3: Here it is – ED01 on our Crate mirror (97.95MB) – make sure it is named update.zip. Instructions coming up shortly. Update #4: Manual update instructions: Download the file from the mirror above and make sure it's named update.zip. Make sure it's not update.zip.zip (in case your Windows is set to hide file extensions). Copy it to your Fascinate's SD card using any method you fancy. Reboot the phone and hold VolUp+VolDn+Power while booting it back up. You should see the Samsung logo. You can now let go. At this point, you should be in recovery. Use volume buttons to navigate and Home to select. Scroll down to Apply sdcard:update.zip and select it. Watch the magic happen. Congratulations, you should now have Froyo on your Fascinate.

digitalnirvana 646 Report post Posted April 21, 2011 Going by Samsung's track record of rolling out buggy Froyo updates, would suggest you watch XDA for reviews before doing the update. Why is it not coming via OTA, why is a .zip required?

ananth001 21 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 Tried but its giving Errror & not able to update Maybe you must have removed some bloatware
parin 857 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 (edited) No yaar its on Stock ROM with all bloatwares From XDA So many of us are rooted...so many... Getting to ED01 isn't easy without any radio leak. So, to get to ED01, so you can get yer bran' spankin' new modem!, follow these directions. First, we will downgrade to DL09. Do this by flashing this DL09 package in Odin (pda button, pda button, pda button) http://adrynalyne.us/files/stuff/ Then, download this EA28 update.zip, put it on your sd card, reboot to recovery and flash: http://www.multiupload.com/F00OYXVO0K Finally, download this ED01 update.zip put it on your sdcard, and reboot to recovery and flash: http://www.multiupload.com/LPI21AP8TD Then, flash whatever the latest and great cwr 2.5.x is (I've not kept track.) Do not use cwr 3.x for now, imo. You can then flash one of the stock rooted roms, or root yourself via flashing a super user package from cwr. (I am on 2.2 with DL30 & Radio DL09) Please Post First Hand details, review, update procedure for everyone's benefit... Questions for update procedure... -Did the update affect any of the phone settings likes EVDO Data, Other & had to be reprogrammed? -Did you wipe?
