Bablus 66 Report post Posted April 29, 2011 Hey people.. a friend of mine needs help in checking email over mobile.. His office uses Lotus notes, but does not have enterprise id. He currently uses IE on the computer. Is it possible to crack/discover the server and configure on mobile phone? I havent used lotus notes ever, so I have no clue. Please advice. digitalnirvana 646 Report post Posted April 29, 2011 Lotus notes is similar to outlook exchange. No question of cracking exchange server as it will involve accessing official E-Mails. Which phone is using? Ask him to contact his IT admin to give him the server settings and password which he can configure on phone. For list of supported phones see http://europe.nokia.com/PRODUCT_METADATA_0/Find_products/Nokia_for_Business/pdf/datasheet_ibm_lotus_notes_traveler.pdf Once lotus notes is setup on phone it can be synced with PC using PC suite. If his phone does not support lotus notes traveller he can use emoze. Lastly check this website too http://www.nokialotusnotes.com/, I could not open from office so not sure if it is useful. Bablus 66 Report post Posted April 30, 2011 Thanks Dipan. The phone is Nokia 5233, its not there in the list, but I believe it supports. The problem is not phone, my friend willing to change that. The problem is company IT people are not supporting, either because it is genuinely not possible to configure the account on phone because of limited feature account they have purchased, which is the possible reason even in office my friend has to use IE to check emails and not Lotus Suite client. or they dont want to support and allow people to check email on mobile. So my question to the forum is.. what do you think which one would be the case? If all Lotus suite emails definitely have a enterprise id and port which can be discovered and used to sync on pc or mobile, then I think this should be possible. So where would we find these details? Hope I am able to make question clear.
digitalnirvana 646 Report post Posted April 30, 2011 OK when your friend uses IE to login then he must be using lotus notes web access similar to OWA. Now just ask him to get the E-Mail server name from his IT department. Then install Emoze and give that server name and the ID and password used to login on IE. It should work on any mobile phone. I discourage bypassing security to connect to lotus notes server because this is official E-Mail and any tricks would be unsafe for work.
Bablus 66 Report post Posted May 2, 2011 Thanks Dipan... Everything you said should help perfectly... except for that point of asking the IT. The point is they are not helping... is there any way to find server name? I agree with you... bypassing or breaching security is not a good idea. Do advice.. digitalnirvana 646 Report post Posted May 2, 2011 The server name needed here is the company's E-Mail server name, and it can only be given by the company's IT department. If it is possible can you share the URL through which web access E-Mail is checked? Generally the server name is part of the URL.
