rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted May 25, 2011 ^ ^ ^ Not sure whether it is locked or not.. Does this Unbricking Process FAQ on Aircel Website any indication or it's meant for prepaid only? http://site2preview....phone-faqs.html What is 'unbricking process'? iPhone is a dead phone till the time it gets connected to iTunes. So, for activation, the dealer will do 111, 222, connect to iTunes for hardware activation, then FRC and send 'START (space) iPhone (space) MSISDN to 171. This will trigger the IN and APN gets attached to the plan. Then, customer can choose any of the Apple prepaid top-up.
KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted May 25, 2011 A still better and STRAIGHT-FORWARD plan will be giving an iPhone4 to a customer and tie him with a rope and LOOT away his home and everything... That will be much better than these cunning tariff plans...

rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted May 31, 2011 No 3G video calling on iPhone 4 in India Source Users in India can make video calls using WiFi, but not over 3G as the application that enables the service has been locked by Apple. The Apple iPhone 4, which is being regarded as the most unique device, is not capable of making video calls over a 3G mobile network despite being a 4th generation smartphone. Users in India can make video calls using WiFi networks, but not over 3G as the application which enables the service is locked by Apple. The Apple spokesperson in India said, "FaceTime, the application that allows video calling on the Apple iPhone 4, is a closed user application that allows people having iPhone or compatible Apple hardware like the iPad 2 and forth generation iPod touch running FaceTime application to have video calling." "3G cannot be used to make these video calls; only WiFi data is supported by the application. The application allows seamless connectivity between other Apple products though," he added. iPhone 4 nevertheless has all the necessary hardware, including a front facing camera and 3G capable quad frequency network band, to allow 3G video calling over the mobile network. Many applications like Frring, Tango me and Oovoo can be used as third party solutions to curb this problem of calling over 3G mobile networks. Along with that, these applications offer both free and paid services and allow cross platform compatibility as well, which means that an iPhone 4 user can call another iPhone, or even another operating system that supports these third party applications. There were some issues related to video calling with Frring but with the new update for the iPhone 4, Frring users on iPhone 4 get to make better quality video calls. digitalnirvana 646 Report post Posted May 31, 2011 ^ Apple treats India as the dumping ground of outdated products, but this is infuriating, how can they disable a feature. Jailbreak serves them right.

Thats the reason why we need to jailbreak iphone, so if you load an app called "my 3G" from cydia, its great! it makes your iphone believe you are on wifi and this way you can use apps like facetime, skype and apple appstore to download bigger apps, etc. also my friends, anybody using iphone would be familiar with whatsapp, now download app called "viber" from the app store , its FAB, its like whatsapp but u can have a voice call for free and the quality is great. I have an android - reliance CDMA (on HTC EVO) & airtel 3G (iphone 4).. but android is no where near iphone IOS, hey mods can we have a seperate segment of Iphone in GSM head?? There is so many things to be discussed about iphone ... UNLOCKS JAILBREAKS & TWEAKS APP STORE & CYDIA APPS PLANS. think about it, iphone is a growing market in india.. the way i see it, it would be first launch ground from dumping ground, as soon as iphone realises potential of indian market. city02 63 Report post Posted June 2, 2011 it would be insane to pay full price [over rs. 30 k upfront] for a locked handset from any operator you should only buy locked phones if there is a decent subsidy [at purchase] else its not worth it iPhone 4 is to be sold factory unlocked in Apple store. If you buy from Aircel it will be locked and with 2 yr contract you can recover your cost.
