Please suggest: Dual SIM : GSM+GSM : Upto 12-15K : Option To Save 1K Contacts, Unlimited SMS

Recommended Posts

Dear Friends,

Need your feedback on a phone purchase.

I am currently using a Nokia N95 with a idea card. However, have purchased a BSNL card a few days back and rather than carrying 3 phones (have a company provided BB also), thought it'd be feasible to get a Dual Sim phone.

Budget : MAX 15K

Requirement :

Dual SIM (GSM+GSM)

Atleast 1K contacts memory

Unlimited SMS memory (my N95 is running at 1950 sms's as of now)

Excellent Battery Life (i travel a lot)

Games installation

Durable (i have a 3 year old son, who thinks Phones are for playing!!)

Phone should also work as as Modem( i can connect it to my laptop and surf net on my laptop)

Good looking :GirandoOjos:

Add ons (if they are there, then fine, else i can live without them) : Qwerty Keyboard, Touch screen etc.

I have seen the following :

Spice MI-270 Android as somebody told me that Android is good.

However, got the above phone (MI270) from a dealer and the handset camera was not working. Got a replacement from him the 2nd day and in this handset the dial / home key are always glowing on (checked with somebody who is having the same instrument, and this should not be there). So worried about quality of Spice handsets. Additionally, BSNL is not having the GPRS settings for this phone and are going the sarkaari way in their response!!

Somebody recommended Samsung STAR II or the Samsung 7722.

Not too sure about the Samsung phones meeting my requirements. I request all to provide feedback for this purchase.

Some of your requirement like durable with respect to your son playing with your phone and very long battery life can't be fulfilled by any Android. However you can arm the phone with good quality protectors, shells to resist the impact and invest in higher capacity/extra batteries.

With that disclaimer, Viewsonic V350 Dual Sim Android will fulfill all your other wishes. Checkout the topic here >> http://www.rimweb.in...viewsonic-v350/

It was announced to be launched in India by End July and probably already launched.. Enquire..

Dear Rajan,

Thanks!! I was beginning to think that this post wouldnt get any reply :GirandoOjos:

I spoke to the viewsonic incharge for West India, and he said that they are in talks with Reliance retail for distribution. Phone launch could take a month.

I am not specifically looking at Android phones only. If you feel that any other OS would also suffice, pls suggest.

Many Thanks!!
