Changing Gmail Account On Android

dear gurus

i want to change my gmail a/c on fascinate i have added the new a/c but when i try to remove the older a/c it says i need to reset to factory setting which i can do as the phone is new and does not contain much of data

my main query is will it effect the no programmed on it & internet settings done on it by hiteshji

Yes your fone might need reprograming or you might need to OTAF your mobile no by putting service request from WW.

Plz share some more details so to help you in better manner. Plz let us know if your fone is rooted & your present baseband, Kernel, Firmware version. Also do you have backup of your MIN no.

I guess if your phone is rooted, Then you can clear dalvik cache from recovery. If not then, I do not suggest to do factory reset, it can bring a traingle mark on your network, Same happened to me, avoid it.

Hi Jasmin,

As you already have your MIN with u, you can do factory reset

after doing so, just enter min again and your phone will start working,

Data settings may require to be done again. but to start the phone just min is req.

MIN can be entered directly from phone

Or follow

1. select menu -> settings -> applications -> manage applications

2. scroll down and click "Google Apps"

3. click the "Clear data" button (you will receive a warning, click OK)

4. go back to home screen

5. pull down the notification menu and click on the message "Your account must be updated"

6. follow the onscreen instruction until you get to where it asks you to "create" or "sign in", click "sign in" and enter YOUR new Google account info.

dear all

how do i chk if phone is rooted or not

hiteshji in case you may remember we did the ineternet setting on sunday @ bombay central

i tried the cache clearing but the clear cache button is greyed out (not active) i even tried force stop but no response on that part

the details which i have noted down are as follows

Hello,

In 2.1, for system apps you cant clear the cache, your phone seems to be not rooted, just for a check see if you have superuser app, or you can even test it by downloading terminal from the market, & type su, if you found access denied or something then your phone is not rooted.

fyi, "rooting is giving user a adminstrative right"

You can get various stablerom for samsung fascinate on xda forum.

For removing app which you dont use can be done via root explorer app, but that can only be done if you are rooted.

I guess, first thing which you should do is rooting, follow the below link, step by step instruction of rooting samsunf fascinate,

is rooting simple enough as given in steps

this link talks about EB01 & is an old link does it make lot of difference if you put latest rom

i will download all the stuff & if i can muster up sufficient courage will go for rooting in the evening or on sunday

@Jasmin 1) remove your MIN from above post.

2) Just do factory reset and enter your min, it will be all ok again.

3) Data settings can be done again, dont worry about it.

while going through the link at one point (i.e. 2nd link for instructions on androidcentral) it says this method is outdated & redirects to new method

so will have to study & plan carefully before doing anything or will have to take help of some experienced person

I have done rooting of my phone and also bootloader engineering s-off for my htc droid eris, but have not done for samsung yet.

As hiten bhai suggested try to use superoneclick and z4root.

Once you have rooted its quite interesting to play with it.

If in case it doesnt work,
