Chirag 5 Report post Posted March 4, 2005 Nokia phones to cost less! March 04, 2005 17:20 IST Rediff.com In the wake of positive announcements in the Union Budget pertaining to the telecom sector, Nokia may cut prices of its mobile handsets in India, a senior company executive hinted on Friday. Describing Budget proposals as being very beneficial to the telecom industry, Nokia India's Head (Marketing), Sanjay Behl, said in Bangalore: "Whatever measures announced in the Budget, we will pass it on to consumers as early as possible. That action is going on right now." The telecom industry is very happy with the friendly Budget, he added. Consumers of telecom products in general can now avail better benefits, Behl said. "We (telecom industry) are very happy that the government has taken a consistent policy on telecom. Overall, budget has been friendly for the telecom industry. We expect it's going to augur well for the future of this industry." Meanwhile, Nokia on Friday launched its first concept store in India at Bangalore. Behl said the company has plans to roll out such a store at Delhi and eventually to all top cities.
