Ubislate7, the upgraded version looks good.

They have given very less details about the product.

Basic configuration looks very fine in this price range.

But all these low cost Android Devices (Phone or Tabs) don't have good Touch Screens..

That's right, it is worth spending 3000/- on this.

Its better to go for UbiSlate7 rather than Aakash, just 500/- diff but confg is much better.

They must be getting good orders for this.

I have already mailed to few of my friends interested in buying low cost tab.

Yeh aise time pe launch karenge .. jab woh hardware bhangar ho gaya hoga and we will be selling off those stuff .. dual core proc ke jamane me 'upgrade to 800Mhz' i see it to be a non sense .. just a personal opinion though ...

May be made from second hand hardware or surplus ... who knows !!!

No offenses and I respect the objective of this tab ..

India’s $45 tablet fails to click in trials

party seems to be over..

IMO, both Datawind & Govt has got much needed publicity for this gimmick & it will be forgotten very soon. Now, since people have known the name of company, selling other products will be relatively easy for Datawind..

I got a similar mail..

I replied asking for payment via credit card or fund transfer mode..

Got no revert since three days..

Guess I won't risk paying in advance to a company who takes so much to respond.. Don't mind waiting

Most Indian companies takes ages to respond. For example if you mail timtara or tradus, their response time is 72 working hours and they work Monday to Friday only. All public or religious holidays are excluded. So not to judge any company from their response time.

Frankly I have - incidentally - very poor experience of all Indian online or net related companies.

I still don't understand Govt's wisdom in making such kind of tablet pc & giving it to all students to bridge digital divide. How this can bridge is a big question mark.

How many wifi hotspots we have in most of the cities, forget about villages ? That too how many those hotspots will be free of charge ?

Even in case of using mobile network for data, how many people would be able to afford data charges to mobile companies ?

And, even though Android has 1000s of applicatinos, how many can of them (free ones) can be really used for education purpose ? Since most of the apk are either prodctivity or fun oriented & only few that is for education..

It seems, govt has not done proper study for requirement of such device & just for cheap publicity all stunts are performed..

There are many many issues, that are left unanswered including possible 'requirement of service / repair' etc etc have not been clarified so far..

Aakash is brain child of Kapil Sibal, and he is never known for taking studied decisions just to remind you his statements on 2G scam, zero loss etc.

The world's cheapest tablet project has been allocated about Rs 765 crore in Budget 2012-13, which is likely to trigger the second phase of the project expected to begin in April, even as the first phase is stuck in a deadlock. The allocation for Aakash has been made under the National Mission for Education through ICT of Ministry of Human Resource and Development.
