Hi every body. Now I am the proud owner of Epic Touch 4G with the help of Parin in excellent condition.

Yesterday I have got the OTA UPDATE FF18 & hits yes. Now I am updated from GB 2.3.6 to ICS 4.0.4.

Want to know, is it ok to root my phone ? if yes plz guide me.

regards

Was wondering if I would be the first to post about the ics update but alas I am not. In short the update was just pushed to my phone and it updated smoothly and did retain the programming and evdo :D

Rooting is absolutely safe... Just go ahead n root n remove unnecessary sprint stuff through titanium backup n enjoy your power horse...

Use this link to root...

with this update, there has been a shift in the kernel. it is advisable to do a couple of wipes and battery statistics through the recovery before moving onto ics. also it is advisable to cycle battery first few times so that it adjusts with this new kernel before ppl start complaining. drain out battery completely before a charge and so on

So what is happening about the update & battery? Is it a good idea to update?

i got OTA! even i was impatient so check hell lot of times..

but finally it happened, that i left my phone connect to wifi for about 10-15hrs and in the morning i saw the update, so i thought it would download the 208mb approx update over wifi.. but it just simply updated with out interruptions or downloading..

afaik, it already downloaded the update and then show the notification n prompt!

Please explain power cycle. Also if you can post some photos for gmail app.

Try a caliberation

Charge till full while phone is on, disconnect, charge again till full while phone is off, disconnect, boot charge again till battery is full.

Disconnect, boot in recovery.= advanced= wipe battery stats,

Do this thrice , let the phone discharge to less than ten percent.

Correct me if I am wrong.
