Yes.

With a SIM card, calls and data will work like a charm but no MMS. Check out bbs.gfan.com/forum-690-1.html if you read Chinese. There are simple ways to enable MMS as well.

Besides the two GSM operators, China Telecom operates a CDMA network. Photon 4G will work with its UIM card, but you will need to use QPST to change two settings to "Simple IP only" and "R-UIM only", and also upload the operator's PRL.

Awesum find mate +1. I have my fingers crossed if there is even 1% chance of photon working of Reliance/Tata/MTS sim I am sure our Ethan Hunt (MI franchise) aka Hetal bhai will crack it. After incrdible2 if photon will get this feature I am sure it will be a early Christmas for every one.

Though i have not tried xda method (not read yet as well) but reliance ruim has worked on photon. Not all ruim works. I had one old ruim with Meid worked. None of other 9-10 ruim worked. I checked Tata, mts and reliance ruims

Did the ruim work directly or the handset had to be programmed in anyways. Also were u able to get data on it.

Plz let others also know that what all settings did you do inorder to make reliance ruim work on photon. I also tried putting reliance ruim directly in the slot but it didnt recognise, so plz guide in detail...

Using the above instructions, I did get the RUIM working on Photon. So thought why not change it to OMH RUIM so that EVDO can be used. But to my surprise it did not work on OMH RUIM.

Now it works with one of the other RUIM (which did not work before programming). Hence, I fail to understand why it does not work with OMH RUIM.

Can some guru's throw some light on this.

I too need to use R-UIM card on my Photon. How do you add the diagnostic port on QPST configuration? Could someone explain step by step on how to add the R-UIM details on my Photon?

Go to QPST Configuration --> Ports Tab -- Add New ports--select the port.

Then from menu select Start clients --> Service programming and then as per the instructions mentioned

pls help, reliance voice service is working ok but cannot get data working on my mb855. through QPST i changed two settings to "Simple IP only" and "R-UIM only", and also tried to upload the operator's PRL. but QPST is showing an overflow error both for 1x and hsd prl.
