After a thought purchased this phone from ebay and is in my hands now.Visited webworld and got omh diamond sim also I asked them to activate EVDO and put 94 rs plan but that guy said something funny he said there is no such plan at all and only a plan for 125 was there Reliance website still shows the plan though and when enquired about activivating EVDO this guy says data is already activated on and if I put a pack it will work does that mean EVDO is already active or should I call *355 for activation kindly clarify.One minor glitch I found with the phone as of now is if I press one icon another gets activated and at times it lags might be a slow phone that can be adjusted or does it need fine tuning or something when I try to type something some keys as of C wont type at all keys left n right get typed how to solve this? delete button sometimes dont work.Please help.Thanks in advance for any help in this regard

if the phone is not working properly, first of claim a replacement from the seller.

evdo has to be activated on new connection. only 1x is available on new connections by default.

One minor glitch I found with the phone as of now is if I press one icon another gets activated and at times it lags might be a slow phone that can be adjusted or does it need fine tuning or something when I try to type something some keys as of C wont type at all keys left n right get typed how to solve this? delete button sometimes dont work.

Yes, its a bit laggy, but what else we can expect from such a device with slow processor, small screen, less RAM.. it takes time to get used to on using the phone, texting, etc.

You can root it using super one click 2.3.3 instantly, after installing Huawei drivers. You can remove some apps to gain more RAM. Some China Telecom ROMs are also available, stable with dual network icons and a light version of 4.0.3 on Huawei C8600 is available too. Can be unrooted any time again. Stock MTS factory images are also hosted.

Aalok bhai got it new from ebay.I know processor is slow and lags a lot but my concern is about typing if I press one something else comes so on so forth if I press 1 4 gets typed for c x or v comes not sure if it is due to small screen or other problem

Procedure to flash recovery:-

Place the recovery you need in C:\android-sdk\platform-tools\recovery.img

Open up command prompt and type:

cd \android-sdk\platform-tools

Now, make sure it detects your android:

fastboot devices

You'll see a line with a serial number, you're good to go (remember you need to be in fastboot mode while you do all of this, Vol. Up + Power while off)

Now, just flash the recovery.img

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Latest update as my phone had a touch screen issue had given the same for service to Huawei service centre at first they said we dont take unlocked handset and after a after thought took the phone for service under warranty dont know what they did now phone is networked locked Reliance sim wont work.I read xda forum that I need to type some code on the phone to proceed with unlocking.My phone shows in display Insert MTS card and on bottom Emergency call and MEID options are showing.How do I go about unlocking the phone kindly help.Thanks in advance for all the help provided

You have to edit some files as shown in the first post. You may require to read your evdo password in some cdma software and write it in apns-conf.xml in system directory.

I have successfully de-provisioned MTS MTAG Huawei C8511 from its locked carrier MTS. Reliance RUIM was working with voice and sms by default. I did not require a pc or any such equipments. Now 1x/Evdo works beautifully. I tried much hard to de-compile and rebuild framework-res.apk to remove carrier files but firmware crashed and had to re-install firmware and re-root a hundred times. However carrier name could not be changed by erl.xml. In stock firmware, non-MTS APNs could not be saved, now I have made Reliance as default. Anyone interested in modifying MTS phones can contact me for free support.

1)can u assist me in setting up the data services

2)also u have mentioned in one of your posts about various roms available for c8500 which can be flashed on this through cwm

already installed cwn as per your post , however could not flash the rom as it got stuck in boot loop.

(i tried to flash a 4.01 rom obtained from "need rom" )

A tutorial has been written on RIMweb forum. If you would like to re-install stock MTS firmware, extract the dload file and follow the instructions found in this zip. Download any one of these.
