shadow 119 Report post Posted December 10, 2011 most of us start cursing companies about the late android updates, we feel that gingerbread has been out for almost an year now and we still didnt get it, but its easy for companies with limited models like apple, because if they want to do an software update they have to do it only for a max of 5 devices(2g,3g,3gs,4,4s), but what about companies like Samsung, Sony Ericsson ?? Samsung releases many devices per year globally, and many more regional and carrier specific, so they have to deal with diff types of chipsets, processors, bluetooth versions etc etc etc, and get them tested , verified and certified before they roll out to the end customers there is an interesting article on sony ericsson website about the steps involved for updating an android os source : http://developer.sonyericsson.com/wp/2011/12/07/ice-cream-sandwich-from-source-code-release-to-software-upgrade/

avishekghosh 45 Report post Posted December 11, 2011 Customers bought mobile handsets by using their hard earned money & they have the right to get the latest software/firmware update in his handset from the companies if the hardware spec of his/her phone support future updates....We know that companies have lot to do for giving sw updates to different phones....but it is not our headache....we are here as customers/users & this forum is for customers......so pls dont bother for companies....they always misguide us by different ways...they have enough resource & money to give us the desired sw updates to almost all phones they introduced & its their duty....they are cheating us by not giving the updated softwares......

shadow 119 Report post Posted December 11, 2011 @ghosh ji, i aint denying that we have put our hard earned money, and we the customer is the king, i only tried to focus on a reason we get late updates, if u read the article completely it says that the certification process is what makes the delay, because they have to apple for global certificate and regional certificates and other health and technical standard certifications after each update, there are some companies which delay the updates because they dont want to, like LG for example,
