me_saket 73 Report post Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) In month of october when tata indicom rebanded into tata docomo, there was also annoucement regarding new product launched Tata Photon Max, bases on EVDO rev B, http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__246352 http://telecomtalk.info/ttsl-launches-photon-max-rev-b-evdo-services-on-tata-docomo/80075/ at that time coevreage were limted to only mumbai, chennai, delhi(not include NCR) and kolkata. but from 1st feb, website got updated, now showing it cover all metro and most of tier I cities in india, although Banglore is not there. http://photon.tatado...stpay.aspx#tab2 State Photon Max Cities Andhra Pradesh Hyderabad Bihar Patna Delhi Delhi Gujarat Ahmedabad, Vadodra, Mundra Kerala Ernakulam, Trivandrum Maharashtra Mumbai Punjab Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Amritsar Tamil Nadu Chennai UPE Kanpur, Lucknow West Bengal Kolkata Currently product available only with postpay connection and Tariff plan are very limited Device supplied is Huawei Ec306 model, which is capable of delivering 14.7 Mbps with using EVDO rev B phase II network and 3 slot of 1.25Mhz device cost rs 1999 with minimum rent of rs 750. also device bundle offer of device with 5 month advance rent plan available at rs Rs3999. Regarding evdo rev b, tata has choosen only Phase I, where two channels 1.25Mhz spectrum is used to get max speed of 6.2=2* 3.1 Mbps. As tata have enough spectrum in most circle, so they can afford it, But MTS which lunched EVDO rev B phase II (Mblaze Ultra) only in rajasthan, where thay have more than 1.25Mhz spectum For details Toll Free Customer Care number 1800-266-121 exclusively for our Photon Max customers. Rcom is still waiting and struggling with 2G scam case, Termination of it's top official like Mr Syed Safawi, and Debt of 3G spectrum. inception 75 Report post Posted February 5, 2012 I guess if this 2G mess is cleared MTS will roll out EVDO Rev B in other circles too. But they need spectrum in certain circles, where they reached a certain subscriber base and eligible to obtain another 1.25MHz spectrum, but still they did not get it. So spectrum crunch is there and that's why they can not upgrade to revB in most cities.
me_saket 73 Report post Posted February 5, 2012 Which circle where mts is eligible for more spectrum.? Sent from my HuaweiU8300 using Tapatalk
inception 75 Report post Posted February 6, 2012 Delhi, Kolkata and some other circles - but now all is messed up!
parin 857 Report post Posted February 6, 2012 Game is harder for MTS as now he has to compete with Reliance & Tata for bidding... May be they will quit there operations if they are not able to get the req spectrum in bid..
KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted February 6, 2012 offtopic:- Even though RCom and (especially) Tata may NOT be interested in CDMA 2G spectrum auction, they may bid to increase the price atleast... So auction may NOT be a smooth ride for MTS, imho... OnTopic:- Unless Tata reduce the data tariff (very unlikely, imho), there will be very very few takers for their DORB service... inception 75 Report post Posted February 6, 2012 yea atleast on paper 3G operators offer 21Mbps for 2GB/Rs 750 while EVDO Rev A offers same tariff, so REVB price has to be same as this standard, users have to pay extra only for the device. 2ndly they must allow the revB users to recharge revA packs, like 3G users can use 2G packs. me_saket 73 Report post Posted February 6, 2012 agree with inception, there are chances that u may not getting rev b coverage. Have any body tried EVDO rev B. Does we come to know via signal or any software, weather we latched to rev a or rev b network?
KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted February 6, 2012 ^^^^ DORB is new, if not non-existent even in CDMA loving countries like US, Canada... So we may NOT get foreign handsets and unlocked modems supporting DORB just like DORA now... We have no much choice than going to the evil tentacles of the operators, imho... Sadikk 301 Report post Posted February 7, 2012 RIL and Qualcomm hold 4G licenses and they both looking on LTE. Rev.B is haste decision anyways.. Tata and MTS both share infra so its feasible for them.. But reliance still waiting. Wait and watch after licensed killed.. Also MTS will never exit.. We cant afford to hurt Russians on their investments.. Lets see.
inception 75 Report post Posted February 7, 2012 There are only two modems - Huawei EC306 and MTS AC2791 both offered in India and Indonesia. MTS offers both, while Tata sticks to Huawei only.
