Karthik R 246 Report post Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) Check out the topic 'Tata Indicom Reintroduces Internet Packs' in the Tata Indicom sub-forum for the details on HSIA (EVDO) plans. Are you planning to use EVDO data on a OMH phone? Edit : typo error Edited March 3, 2012 by Karthik R

KapilAgrawal 340 Report post Posted March 3, 2012 Check -- But do these plan work in Roaming ?
sougatadc 358 Report post Posted March 4, 2012 ^ Yes, these plans work fine while roaming without any extra charge. In addition to the mobile internet wap plans, Tata DoCoMo CDMA has HSIA packs as follows: Rs. 100/ 256 MB Rs. 300/ 1 GB Rs. 500/ 2 GB Rs. 950/ 5 GB Rs. 1000/ 10 GB Rs. 1500/ 15 GB Unlike MTS, Tata's high speed data isn't omnipresent, rather limited to big towns only. Also Tata doesn't allow activation of usage-based (MB/GB) packs of data with pay-per-second voice plans (of course for unknown strange reasons). @ ashok, as you are having hTc incredible 2, go for MTS. The voice plans are attractive too.
KapilAgrawal 340 Report post Posted March 4, 2012 Also Tata doesn't allow activation of usage-based (MB/GB) packs of data with pay-per-second voice plans (of course for unknown strange reasons). I am also going to use TATA OMH on Droid 3. I have opted Postpaid, So I hope I should not face this issue. And won't I get 3G with Rs. 43 & 94 packs (http://cdma.tatadocomo.com/internet-postpay-packs.aspx). I need to do following settings if I want to use WAP based packs -- Server Dial = #777 User Name = wapuser Password = wapuser Proxy Server IP = 172.23.252.15 Proxy Server Port = 9401 Means Proxy / Port = 172.23.252.15:9401 Please correct me if I have mistaken. me_saket 73 Report post Posted March 4, 2012 yes these plan works in roaming also. @kapil try using these setting Server Dial = #777 User Name = internet Password = internet
sougatadc 358 Report post Posted March 4, 2012 ^ Google apps e.g. Maps, Market will not work on wap. Also full-fledged browsing is not possible with Tata wap on Android. But this was very much possible on Windows mobile 6.5. I used to use wap (Rs. 94 pack, now it is Rs. 95) for internet banking, YouTube, gmail, maps with navigation, IRCTC bookings, reading epapers among many other web based sites like my official online works on hTc Touch. Now on Android I miss that cheapest internet. Better mobile browsers like Opera mini or Dolphin do not run on Android if accessed with Tata wap. Reading vernacular websites like Bangla, Hindi etc is possible with Opera mini only. As only stock browser of Android works on Tata wap, those websites will show boxes only, any Facebook post in Indian languages or the signature of Kamal bhai will appear as boxes only. Problems are exactly the same on postpaid. I'm on postpaid.
KapilAgrawal 340 Report post Posted March 4, 2012 Noted your point. Incredible 2 & Droid 3 have option where you can enter Proxy & Port details while creating APN. I hope that must work for all Android Apps. Can you try that & confirm ??
sougatadc 358 Report post Posted March 4, 2012 My postpaid Tata connection is on Fascinate. Extracting the number from into an OMH RUIM for the check, and putting my number back into Fascinate after the test is a cumbersome process. However, I'll try to test it. KapilAgrawal 340 Report post Posted March 4, 2012 I have strong feeling that it would be a success. I hope to get my number ported to Tata CDMA in next 3-4 days, Will try this at that time or buy a pre-paid UIM to try this out tomorrow. As such Pre-paid users have Rs. 94 pack which supports HSIA on handset without Proxy. But nothing such cheap for Postpaid.
KapilAgrawal 340 Report post Posted March 4, 2012 yes these plan works in roaming also. @kapil try using these setting Server Dial = #777 User Name = internet Password = internet May be these settings work in prepaid with Rs. 94 pack. or I need to opt for HSIA packs which are expensive. Many guys have reported below settings to work- User name- MDN@omh.ttsl.in Password- password
