joee77 10 Report post Posted July 22, 2012 Hi all I have one dumb question. Is video calling is possible on Reliance CDMA Network without any external software ? If yes, then on which handsets? Which externalsoftware is used for it? Sent from my HTC S710d using Tapatalk
avishekghosh 45 Report post Posted July 22, 2012 Network video calling is not available/possible in any cdma carrier...It's a limitation of cdma technology, so only skype, gtalk video calling is possible here... kshah 452 Report post Posted July 23, 2012 @joee In cdma video call like gsm is still distant dream as even if one can do that it will not be standardized as gsm. I have not come across any phone or system offering gsm like video calling. Video calling based on standard platform is only productivity solution than voip. I really like cdma for certain features but standardization is big issue.
avishekghosh 45 Report post Posted July 23, 2012 Video calling is just a gimmick.. Atlist in India, a minimum number of people using it although they r on gsm.. No standard gsm operator advertising for video calling n they almost never changed/lowered video calling rates till now... So if any user who can afford 3G connection n 3G handset for gsm video calling will easily afford video calling over VOIP... Its much affordable n available in almost all smartphones.. sougatadc 358 Report post Posted July 23, 2012 I too agree with Avishek. GSM's video calling is a feature which just exists in paper. I never come across people making pure video calls over 3G. I never find anybody sending any MMS. Most of my colleagues/ friends who are using smart phones are using GSM connection. Haven't come across anybody sending any MMS or making any video calls. On the contrary, I make VOIP video calls using MTS's EVDO or BSNL broadband over wifi at my office on a regular basis. When there are good options of video calling using VOIP over 3G/EVDO at a very affordable rate (and across international border), what's the use of operator supported video calls? It's just a mind block, I think.
