Ok !!!! since yesterday night i have been using the JB leak , and its by far stable enough, Barring TWO calls related issues which i have mentioned below and which can be by and larger easily sorted ( may be not 100% )
So sharing the First Properly working and really awesome LEAK of JB for EPIC 4G TOUCH

Instructions :

The version above is STOCK FL09 rooted No data - that is when you will flash this on your existing GB or ICS structure , you will not lose any data , apps etc.

1.. Download
2.. use 7Zip to extract the one click odin file , right click > 7Zip > extract > and double click to open the ODIN window
3.. just make a nandroid of your current setup to be on safe side
4.. turn off phone
5.. hit and press Vol down and power button together for 5 seconds > then hit volume up to get in download mode
6.. connect phone with PC > it ll show as a yellow com port in ODIN window
7.. Hit start and PROFIT




~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ KNOWN Issues ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Please read carefully - this is important if you are planning or have flashed the Fk09

the most ( and i hope the only ) evident bug in Fk09 is phone freezing , and becoming totally unresponsive if a call is received from or made to a contact in your phonebook with a pictures.

The easiest method is
1.. download contact picture remover app from playstore and install it
2.. switch off your data connection
3.. run the app and it will remove all pictures from your contacts
4.. once you do this > go to settings > accounts > google > and tap the gmail account in which you have stored all your contacts > UNCHECK the SYNC CONTACTS option
5.. and thats it , you can now switch on the data

Plz note from now on whatever contact you are gonna create in your phone , will only be stored in phone only and it wont get updated to your address book in gmail account , so plz keep it in mind

Once a new leak or official OTA comes which has the above bug fixed you can start the contacts syncing again. , till then you wont be able to see the pictures of your contacts on ur phone.



BUG no 2 and its imp .

while on calls your end will get muted intermittently, its called the MUTE BUG
kinna nuisance but can be fixed by turning off proximity censor in call settings and by setting the screen timeout to may be 10 min
1.. hit phone > hit menu button > go to turn off screen while on call option and untick it .
2.. settings > display > screen timeout > set it to 10 min
the key is to not let the screen turn off the entire time you are talking .

this should fix it.

HOW TO UPDATE YOUR EPIC TOUCH TO THE LATEST ICS LEAK - FI03 - as on 14-09-12

I am using FI03 myself and i can safely say its not at all a battery HOG as the other ICS updates before this.
Signal strength is also better.
Try it

download these :
1.. usb drivers for your pc if you havent installed already

this build will reset / wipe all your data and apps , so use this if you want to revert to totally stock , rooted FI03

this build will update your phone to rooted FI03 , but it will not wipe or touch your apps and your data , so if you are on any earlier build then try and use this - recommended

Please note
These ODIN packages are pretty safe, but its always useful to read the DISCLAIMER at the botton of the post

FILE 1 aka 2a - is meant for those who want to start from scratch , that file once flashed will put your phone in total stock condition of FI03 , but with ROOT

FILE 2 aka 2b - is meant for you if you have quite much of data and many apps installed and you dont want to redo the downloading of them and setting em up.
The second file has been made in such a way that while odining/flashing it will not create a DATA folder itself so your previous data will be totally preserved.

If after flashing FILE 2 , you feel some or the other glitches then my suggestion would be to FLASH FILE 1 .





STEP BY STEP FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS

1.... If you havent installed SAMSUNG USB DRIVERS then do it now - link is there above.,

2... If you were on any previous rooted build then its better to backup your apps ( with mybackup root ) and contacts ( with either mybackup root or super backup) on your SD card.

3.... unzip the above mentioned files ( whichever suits you ) using 7zip > you will get a One click odin .exe file > double click it and it will show you a odin window

4.... Power down phone Wait for capacitative button lights to turn off .( please note its better to let the phone to get completely turned off )
Simultaneously Press and Hold [Power] and [VolDn] until a confirmation screen appears,
after that Press [VolUp] to enter Download mode

5.... Now you are in download mode > connect your PHONE with the PC using the usb cable > your phone will show in a yellow box in the just opened odin window. with a yellow COM PORT NUMBER ( please make sure that you are using a good usb cable )

If you dont see a yellow port number on ODIN then reboot your PC and start over
If you still dont see your phone after connecting then remove phone from PC ,
Uninstall the previously installed usb drivers
reboot PC
Reinstall the same drivers
and try again

6.... hit start - in a few minutes the flash will complete and PASS or success will display on ODIN window in green color.

Onec done , either the phone will reboot itself or you can reboot it urself.

Now upon reboot , you are on stock FH03 - Rooted - with all your user data still intact if you used FILE 2 or totally stock if you used FILE 1

Ok from past 10 days i have been testing a lot of ROMS ( still giving ICS a shot , havent given up on it ;P ) ,
Out of the 4 that i have tested i found SUPER GALAXY ROM as the best

Highlights :

1.. Very smooth , very very smooth
2.. Idle battery consumption is practically zero ( when there is no 3G or Wifi or sync in the background )
3.. Fi03 based - as most of you who have flashed stock rooted FI03 are aware that its the best leak till date.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS :

Please Ensure more than 50% battery on the phone
Please note the process is for the ones who are already on FI03 stock rooted with safe Fi03 kernel and agat's green recovery

1.. download the above two files on your sd card preferably
2.. backup data and apps with mybackup root or Superbackup - now both can do all the functions
3.. make a nandroid backup of your current setup by
shutoff
press and hold vol up + power
you are in green recovery
go to backup and restore
hit backup
and your ROM will be backed up
4.. flash the calkulin's format all zip
5.. flash the Super Galaxy Rom 1.8
6.. once finished reboot the phone, give it sometime to boot properly and enjoy the goodness.

Please Note that in epic touch recoveries you dont get to see scrolling bars as were there on fascinate flashing screens , but everything is happening there , so just wait and let them complete.

Installation.


i am assuming the ones who are gonna flash this are already on Galaxy Rom with Fi03 kernel , or stock rooted Fi03

1.. backup your rom : make a nandroid , and also backup data nd apps with superbackup or mybackup root
2.. copy the above two files into your sd card
3.. turn phone off, boiot in recovery by pressing vol up + power button
4.. wipe cache , wipe dalvik - BUT DONT WIPE DATA , (yeah i didnt wipe data and it went well so suggesting same , if you get 8issues then you will have to wipe the data too)
5.. go to flash zip from sd card and flash the clean blue ROM
6.. once finished flash the FI27 radio in it
6.. plz mind you should be on FI03 agats kernel to enjoy the best effects

7.. reboot and come back here to thank me

The Epic Touch is way more fragile than our sturdy fascinates

the odin tar above actually gives you a stock FI03 , with root ,

but no clockwork mod, please dont look for one as yet as well. just make ur ownh structure by removing stuff via titanium backup

My sincere suggestion to all those who arent that familiar with rooting and recoveries to not flash any recovery and not use FACTORY DATA RESET option in SETTINGS > backup and reset ,

especially on any ICS ROM, Probability of BRICKING the device is 100%.

The CWM recoiveries in epic touch are kernel specific , one has to flash a kernel made with that recovery to get cwm.

I am still learning those things once i am sure of myself , will share with the community as well.

Install Titanium backup Root

connect to internet

run the app

go to backup/restore tab

scroll down gradually

find apps you want to remove

click that app from the list

first make a backup of that app, the option is there when u ll click or touch the app

once backup is made , uninstall that app

please make sure to uninstall the unremovable apps only via TIBU , the apps which one can easily un install by going into settings > applications> should not be uninstalled using TIBU , my experience says the pgm gets stuck and u will have to reboot only.

But what I am saying is that indoor photos look very dark on the phone itself,

The indoor snaps from my fassy look fantastic.

The display as well isn't that vibrant as is on fascinate. With similar brightness levels.

Excellent. That went on smoothly.

That didnt go so smoothly for me ..um ..After ODIN green signal, my S2 was just showing the 4G logo for a very long time ... about 20 minutes ..So in spite of the warning that the 4G logo takes an unusually long time, I was forced to do a battery pull ..and re-start the process.

This time after the green signal, during the boot-up, I disconnected the phone from the PC

It worked. The Phone booted successfully and data and everything was intact.

S2 is pretty hard for people like me who were used to flash anything with their eyes closed on the fascinate

Btw i have installed a CWM recovery as well on this along with stock kernel ( pretty rare ), the one that is considered one of very few thru which you can flash new ROMs and wipe data ( without the fear of bricking )

will give it a go by flashing some newer ROMS and if i am satisfied with everything then i am gonna share the method here.

Btw Still would like all you SII owners to comment about the display quality as well as the camera qulaity in more detail.

HOW TO GET A SAFE CWM RECOVERY ON YOUR ROOTED FI03 ROM + HOW TO REMOVE BLOATWARE FROM ANY GB OR ICS ROM

I always share what i have tried myself on my handset , this doesnt necessarily mean that you will have the same results , so please

BE ADVISED : do your own research as well , You cant hold me or RIMWEB responssible for anything BAD that happens to YOU or YOUR precious IMPORTED MOBILE phone as a result of flashing these files mentioned below.

Ok i am back with a major thing now.

This all concerns only FI03 rooted users who dont have any recovery installed as yet.

I did my own testing ( yeah call my white Epic a guineapig for the community )

ok in here i will be outlining how people on FI03 Rooted can

1.. flash a safe RECOVERY + kernel combo

2.. Flash a special script from the awesome ( retired ) Developer Calkulin, which will remove all the un needed bloatware and apks from your ROM , which will free up a hell amount of memory + cpu usage and hence possibly battery consumption as well.

always chk the integrity of the downloaded file before flashing , by matching the MD5

Installation and steps of usage.

1... download file 1 and store in your phone memory or SD card

2.. download and install file 2 aka MOBILE ODIN

3.. download and store file 3 aka BARE ROM CONVERTER to your phone's internal or external memory.

PART 1

4..1) Open Mobile Odin.

2) Select "Open File".

3) Select either "Internal SD-card" or "External SD-card" (depending on where you saved the TAR file you downloaded in step one).

4) Browse to the TAR file.

5) Select "Flash firmware".

6) Select "Continue".

7) Select "Check" to verify the MD5 signature.

The phone will now automatically reboot. This will take slightly longer than usual, this is normal.

once booted there will be a screen showing updation of xxx apps and stuff and once all is finished you will be on a FI03 stock kernel but with a very very safe CWM recovery , thru which one can easily flash stuff without the fear of bricking.

you can boot into the recovery by switching off the phone

and then pressing Vol Up + POWER button simultaneously till samsung galaxy logo appears

PART 2

a.. Boot into recovery

b.. make a nandroid backup by goi8ng to backup and restore and then backup > and now move on

This elaborates about how you can uninstall and remove the bloatware from your STOCK ROOTED FI03 or any other GB and ICS ROM for the E4GT

1... download FILE 3 above if you havent already and store in the root of the storage of your phone

2.. Shutdown the phone

3.. PRESS and HOLD vol up + power button together till samsung galaxy SII logo flashes ,,leave the buttons

now you will boot into AGAT recovery , which is green in color

4.. simply use the option to install zip file and scroll to where you have stored the file that you downloaded called BARE ROM CONVERTER and flash it

( use up and down vol buttons to scroll up and down + use power button to select an option )

5.. it will take just 2 or 3 seconds max lol

6.. go to reboot menu option and press power button > select reboot system and press power button

7.. you will be rebooted

8.. the phone will show android is updating screen > once finished you are on a ROMJ from which all the bloatware and un needed crap has been removed.

Hey Josh,

I followed your method and Successfully updated to EI03 with no data. Tried data preserve, but phone was hanging after start-up. So went for the other option.

Over it I used your guide to get CWM and bloat remove. All went smoothly.

But Sprint bloat is still there. Wasn't the script supposed to remove that as well?

Actually it removes more than 40 un needed apks which are a memory hog.

To remove sprint crap use titanium backup root

Display quality and camera quality on my S2 Epic Touch is excellent !! Its one of the main plus points of this model.

I have extensively used HTC incredible, Incredible 2 & Motorola Bionic. This phone display and camera is simply superb compared to them.

Cant comment on Fascinate tho.
