Rconnect Problem With Lg2130

Recommended Posts

I use RConnect USB cable for my LG 2130 on my laptop with win 2000. I normally run a "ping" on the background while accessing the net such that the connection doesn'r get tried. I see some crazy problem. Suddenly the net connection "hangs". The ping says "Destination Not reachable". Now the phone is in "Dormant" state, the r connect window hangs, the LAN button also hangs on the laptop. The only way to get out of this phase is to manually plug the USB cable out of the port. I tried changing the cable/updating the phone software/re-instaling rconnect. Did anyone face similar problem ?

This happens often with R-Connect. Only solution is to try after some time and if you have some spare time, shoot of a complaint to Reliance (though I don't think it will be of any use)

To keep my connection alive I use mIRC and join a very busy channel. The constant messages make sure real data is always being exchanged and not just pings.

But mirc is dangerous since ports become open. One needs to take care of firewalling etc.But the most simple method is to find the ip of the server the connection is connected to(in winxp right click the connection icon in the task bar and click support and find "server ip address".) note that down and type ping -t "server ip"(for example 97.234.2.22 is the server ip) without the quotes("") in the run menu in start menu.minimize the ping window and work on net peacefully

mIRC is not dangerous at all, unless you are extremely paranoid. If you are really worried then use another client like Bersirc. The ping method does not work for me in preventing dormancy.
