The reason for this 'loot' that shopkeepers give is that there is scarcity of the handset and it has been purchased by them in 'black'

In fact in Reliance website, its price is mentioned as 1999/-

@Amit ji, what's your take on the handset? Are there issues if both GSM & CDMA sims are used in handset? What's your recommendation on the handset for basic dual sim use handset.

(btw, If there are issues, is there a new firmware to fix them?

Anyone who is using this HAier CG220 handset, please give feedback on the signal reception, battery etc. when both SIMS are used. There are not many options available in market for a basic sturdy CDMA + GSM handset. so want to have second opinion on this before going for it. Please help.

Well, people here have recommended Samsung B229. I had very bad experience with it, its signals used to drop frequently while same RUIM will work fine in other handsets. I will recommend one of these 3 based on at least half an year of personal usage:

• Samsung Mpower Muzik F219
• Samsung digirap
• Samsung B339

I myself have not used this handset,but my father has not yet complained to me of any problem using this haier cg220 handset.His usage is moderate,every allternate day he has to charge.
