rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted February 26, 2013 Cat B15 is One Tough Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Smartphone Source BARCELONA, Spain--Caterpillar (yes, the same Cat of industrial forklifts, tractors, and mining equipment) has announced its latest rugged smartphone, the Cat B15. Rocking Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a grooved back, and hard angles, the Cat B15 is aimed for construction and industrial workers. It's waterproof up to 1 meter in depth for 30 minutes, and is dust-proof, both standard requirements for durable phones (specification class: iP67). Rough 'n' tumble, Cat says the B15 can operate in temperatures from -20 to 55 degrees Celsius (-4 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit) and can withstand up to 6-foot drops (1.8 meters). The B15 features a 4-inch touch screen that's capable of sensing your taps and swipes when wet. Gorilla Glass tops the display. Internally, a 1GHz dual-core processor runs the show. A 5-megapixel camera and VGA front-facing camera handle your photography and video capturing, and a continuous shooting mode is one extra. You'll also find an FM radio preinstalled. You'll only find 4GB in internal storage, but a microSD card slot lets you expand to 32GB. A 3G, GSM phone, the B15 stands 4.9 inches tall by 2.7 inches wide by 0.6 inch deep and weighs a hefty 6 ounces. A burly 2,000mAh battery promises to keep talk time going for 16.3 hours. dkaile 1,051 Report post Posted February 26, 2013 (edited) 100$ Waterproof upto 30 minutes in 1 metre of water. US Army Spec. Although it's just a flip phone, it meets the US military's 810G specs for dust, shock, temperature and water resistance, all of which help it survive a rough workplace or an accidental splash at the beach. That and a loud speakerphone are the real highlights, although you will get microSD support and a 3.2-megapixel camera for your trouble. Do the math before you pick up a DuraPro in-store on February 28th, though. At $100 on contract after a $50 rebate, it's carrying smartphone-level pricing that could steer some buyers away from its retro rugged chic. U.S. Cellular business customers and consumers who purchase this device also receive benefits no other carrier offers, including a valuable rewards program that recognizes customer loyalty."There's still very strong demand for a solid feature phone, and feature phones don't come any more solid than the DuraPro," said Eric Anderson, senior vice president and general manager of global sales and marketing at Kyocera Communications.
