Carriers will still continue to sell locked handsets even after this. It is more of a single chip solution for phone manufacturers so they don't have to use different/multiple radios in same model of handset catering to different countries/basebands. What would be the minimum timeframe for this to finally come on a commercislly available handset Second half of 2013 as per Qualcomm.

Got excited and got it all wrong. You are right. But it will be easy for the manufacturers to manufacture a single model and for the ROM and app developers to develop(only those apps that depend on certain frequency). Also, would be easy to unlock phones. Now every smartphone will be fully global (and the locked ones after unlocking) Edited March 7, 2013 by scott1391990

rajanmehta 4,056 Report post Posted March 7, 2013 It supports all 40 basebands in the frequency range 700 to 2700 MHz. So yes to Reliance and BSNL both.
