ashishsethi 55 Report post Posted November 18, 2013 Till two months back I was on the Airtel Rapid 15 GB 1299 (8 mbps / 512 kbps) Combo plan with fixed rental of Rs.1299 + tax. Also I got 1000 minutes free for local calls. Local outgoing - 0.6 / 60 STD outgoing (intra circle) - 0.6 / 60 STD outgoing (outside circle) - 0.75 / 60. Given my heavy download activities, I used to consume the 15 Gb limit in under 7 days and then used to slog the rest of the month with a 512 kbps speed. So, I called up the Customer Care and asked for disconnection of my number and they offered me this retention plan. Unlimited Voice 1149 30 GB (2 Mbps / 512 kbps) Combo DSL plan Local outgoing - 0.0 / 60 STD outgoing (intra circle) - 0.75 / 60 STD outgoing (outside circle) - 0.75 / 60. Now, instead of the free 1000 local minutes, all the local calls were free. Though now my speed for the 30 Gb had reduced to 2 mbps, it still was a decent speed and 15 Gb had doubled to 30 Gb, which was a great advantage now. IMO, this is a great plan for Airtel Combo DSL users. Enjoy!!

ashishsethi 55 Report post Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) No. Speed goes back to 512. I checked. Even the name of the plan mentions that. Edited November 18, 2013 by ashishsethi
Deepak Shankar 79 Report post Posted November 18, 2013 With Hi speed connections you will end up using your quota even before you know and end up moving at snail's pace for rest of the month. You were lucky to get the retention plan but what about regular users who will not get this plan if Airtel can offer this plan for retention why not offer it to general public as a whole. Airtel and its plans wonder if we will ever get true unlimited plans without FUP's
